All at sea! Elton John and David Furnish join Neil Patrick Harris and his family for a fun-filled boat trip on idyllic Portofino break

Having ventured straight to Italy with friends from the French Riviera, it is fair to say that Sir Elton John and his husband David Furnish are living the high-life.

Yet it seems their relaxing break is only getting better since they headed on a fun-filled, sun-soaked boat trip with American actors Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka on Friday.

With all their children in tow, the two couples relaxed under the sun on a luxurious yacht off the coast of Portofino, before jetting off on a smaller, engine-powered boat for an exciting afternoon ride.

Wearing a bold red t-shirt emblazoned with a diamond, Elton waved enthusiastically back at those on dry land as a small speed boat prepared to take his party for a ride. 

The following day, Toronto-born Furnish, 53, took his two sons Zachary, five, and Elijah, three, on board the luxury vessel for an exciting boat trip alongside their pals Harper and Gideon, five - the twin children of close friends Neil and David.

David looked incredibly tanned as he removed his black t-shirt soon into the outing, waltzing around the boat in some garish teal printed swim trunks.

He was seen kitting his children out for the day at sea as they set to embark on a smaller, jet-powered boat for a faster and more thrilling activity.

Back on dry land: They moored the boat and headed into Portofino for the evening, browsing the shops and restaurants and interacting with locals

David alongside Neil, 43 and David, 41, who married in Italy, ensured little Harper was set for the trip, dressing her in a white lace beach cover-up and some adorable pink goggles.

The only girl of the group looked delighted at the prospect of a boat trip, jumping and waving her hands in the air with enthusiasm. 

Meanwhile, the young boys all co-ordinated but stayed safe from the sun in waterproof t-shirts, designed with the colours and logos of their favourite superheros, and big hats adorned with cartoon characters. 

Chilling: With both parties accompanied by their adorable children, the youngsters of the group all played together and enjoyed ice creams as the dads caught up

Hands-on dad David Burtka, seemed to be particularly enjoying the sun as they prepared, peeling off his crisp white shirt to catch some rays on his lean figure.

He looked comfy and cool in some bright red trunks, while his hubby Neil opted for a classic blue gingham pair.

The clan then headed down to the power boat with all the essentials of proud parents, taking an extra large camera with them to document the day and a cool-box of snacks.

The four kids looked absolutely adorable in matching yellow puffy life-jackets, clapping their hands and laughing as the boat took off in the water. 

Harper even rocked some stylish retro white sunglasses, already taking style tips from her fathers despite her tender five years of age.

Afternoon delight: The group then headed for an exhilarating speed boat ride later that afternoon, with the kids clad in adorable matching life-jackets

European chic: The two Davids kept to their clean, crisp fashions even for the low-key boat day, opting for casual shirts and trunks

The group looked the picture perfect family as they set sail, playing games and taking in the sights as the boat adventured around the Italian shore. 

The children gazed out to sea, looking out for any sights and watching the waves crash by as the parents chatted amongst themselves while keeping an eye on their offspring. 

Returning to the yacht after the ride, the kids and adults re-dressed and chilled out in the shade as they watched the sun set.  

Burtka even observed the sight through some binoculars, before sharing a sweet moment with his son where he tickled him on a shaded sofa on deck.

As they moored their boat for the day, Elton then joined the fun as they headed into town for the evening.  

The I'm Still Standing singer, 69, and his husband looked in good spirits as they browsed the restaurant and shops stalls of the Italian town in loose fitting shirts and shorts. 

At one point the duo stopped to admire a pretty pooch being walked by a local, and were even happy to take photos with flocking fans.

The relaxing day marks just one of many on their Italian holiday, with the posse being spotted on a leisurely stroll around Portofino town on Thursday.

Carrying his son Elijah on his shoulders, Furnish looked utterly relaxed as he took in the sights with his two boys.

The filmmaker kept things casual for the low-key dinner in a football shirt embossed with flowers and some ripped denim shorts.

His sons Zack and Elijah were dressed in similar gear, with Zack even sporting a matching red sports top, clearly looking up to his stylish dad.

Neil looked his usual stylish and slick self however, teaming his casual outfit with a trendy tan fedora and a leather bag. 

Accompanied by their adorable twins Harper and Gideon, the youngsters of the group all played together and watched the boats come in as the dads caught up and chatted to locals.

Embracing the glorious sunshine, the group then all grabbed an ice cream together before waiting to board a luxurious boat for an authentic Italian dinner.

How wonderful life is, now you're in the world: The loving family and friends looked in absolute bliss as they cruised around the shore under the Italian

Elton and David's relaxing break in Portofino comes just days after they jetted off with their boys in tow for another sun-soaked holiday in St. Tropez.

They have been spotted on multiple occasions in the Italian hotspot heading for lively dinners with their actor counterparts, and exploring the old, local town.

Elton and David entered into a civil partnership in 2005 after 12 years together, making them one of the first couples in the UK to form an official gay union.

Their first son Zachary was born via surrogate on Christmas Day in 2010, before Elijah was born in 2013. 

Meanwhile Neil and David met in 2004, with Harris not confirming the relationship until they attended the Emmy Awards together in 2007.

The pair announced their engagement on Twitter in 2011, as soon as the Marriage Equality Act passed in New York, where they reside. 

They revealed that they had become engaged five years earlier, but kept it a secret until gay marriage was legalised.

Harris and Burtka also bore children via a surrogate mother - who gave birth to twins in October 2010, Harper Grace and Gideon Scott.
