Jessica Alba joins Gwyneth Paltrow and will.i.am as a mentor on Apple reality show Planet Of The Apps

She's successfully made the transition from screen siren to owner of a billion dollar company.

And now Jessica Alba will be imparting some of her wisdom onto up-and-coming app developers.

The 35-year-old confirmed on Tuesday that she will be joining Apple's new reality series Planet Of The Apps as a mentor.

Also acting as mentors on the show - which as its name suggests is hunting for the next great app creator - are Gwyneth Paltrow, will.i.am and tech investor Gary Vaynerchuk. The other mentors were announced earlier this month.

Jessica said in a statement: 'I started the Honest Company because I saw an opportunity in the market for a brand that spoke to conscious consumers and created safe and effective products for every need.

'As a mentor on Planet Of The Apps, I’m looking forward to meeting entrepreneurs looking to address a problem with an innovative solution, and to help them realize their vision. I can’t wait to see the ideas the app developers bring to the table.'

She also tweeted: 'Excited to be joining @GwynethPaltrow @garyvee @iamwill on Planet of the Apps! Can’t wait to hear your great ideas http://planetoftheapps.com !'

Jessica was asked to take part in her show thanks to the huge success of The Honest Company, which sells non-toxic household goods.

The company launched in 2012 and has now been valued at over a billion dollars.

Meanwhile Gwyneth runs weekly lifestyle publication Goop, and will.i.am developed his own smartwatch to take on Apple's.

The series is currently looking for participants, and describes itself as 'a groundbreaking new series about apps and their creators'.

Apple is co-producing the show with newly launched production company Propagate, which is co-owned by The Biggest Loser's Ben Silverman and MasterChef Junior's Howard T. Owens.

While a premiere date remains to be revealed, the show's website states that filming will take place in Los Angeles from late 2016 to early 2017.
