Dropped: Kim Zolciak's husband Kroy Biermann has been cut from the Buffalo Bills

Kim Zolciak's husband Kroy Biermann has been cut from the Buffalo Bills.

The NFL outside linebacker, 30, joined the team just four weeks ago after signing a one year deal.

He had previously spent eight seasons with the Atlanta Falcons.

Biermann was officially released from the Buffalo Bills on Friday, TMZ reports.

The future of his NFL career now hangs in the balance.

However Kroy's agent Buddy Baker insisted this was simply a blip in the road for his star player.

'Retiring is not a consideration at this point,' he told TMZ, adding that Kroy was late to sign up for the Bills.

Former Real Housewife Of Atlanta star Kim had made much of her husband's big move, frequently boasting about it on social media.

Not such a success: Former Real Housewife Of Atlanta star Kim had made much of her husband's big move

She explained that 'although Kroy is so excited as I am (my parents grew up there, half my family still lives there) never mind the fact the fans are AWESOME, the team is AWESOME and my hubby is ecstatic ... It was hard to say good bye!'

Kroy himself tweeted after signing with the Buffalo Bills on August 15: 'So excited to become part of the Buffalo Bills family we can already feel the amazing energy. #GoBills.'

The New York-based team also posted a photo of him signing his contract and wrote: 'We've officially signed LB Kroy Biermann. Welcome @biermann71!'

But while Kroy was soon tweeting about 'kicking ass' and attending training camp, the reality star failed to stand out in either of his preseason games.

The Bills had signed up 90 players, but  were forced to trim their roster down to the maximum 53 before the start of the season.

Kroy had been tipped to be a rotational player as a pass rusher, but accoirding to analysts, the sudden emergence of Miami University RedHawks defensive end Bryson Albright made him expendable.

'Welcome to the team': But despite the warm wishes on social media, Kroy's career is now in jeopardy after he was cut by the Bills

Kim, 38, had made at least one trip to Buffalo to see her husband, but for the most part she remained in Atlanta with their large family.

The couple recently celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary, with Kroy thanking his 'supportive' wife.

He gave her a $100,000 diamond ring to mark the occasion.

The couple met when they both competed in a one-off  Dancing Stars Of Atlanta charity event to raise money for Alzheimer's disease in May 2010.

They were engaged within weeks and Kim gave birth to their first biological child, a son named Kash, in June 2011.

They married four months later and went on to churn out three more offspring: a son, KJ, and twins Kane and Kaia.

In 2013, Biermann also legally adopted his Don't Be Tardy co-star's two eldest daughters, Brielle and Arianna, expanding the brood into a sextet.
