'We're back!':  Nashville cast reunites at table read for season five as drama moves to CMT after ABC cancellation

It was cancelled by ABC back in May, before being picked up by CMT a month later.

And the cast of country music drama Nashville are back together as they get to work on season five, according to a photo shared by CMT Twitter feed.

'There's no better place to kick off the season than in a room full of our favorite people! ❤️ #NashvilleCMT,' read a tweet from the newly-created account.

In the snap, a few of the show's stars, including Lennon, 17, and Maisy, 12, Stella, Charles Esten, 50, and Chris Carmack, 35, are seen in a fit of laughter as they look over their scripts.

The group is pictured at a table read for the show, which was saved after a fan social media campaign.

The show is set to air on its new network home in January.

'It's the day we've been waiting for, #Nashies... WE'RE BACK! #NashvilleCMT,' read another photo.

The booklet gave away the episode's title; The Wayfaring Stranger, as well as who would be behind the camera.

Nashville creator Callie Khouri will direct the episode, which was written by Edward Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz.

'Alright #Scunner fans, what do we think Season 5 has in store for these two?! #NashvilleCMT,' read the tweet, followed by the handles of Clare Bowen and Sam Palladio. 

Australian actress Clare, 32, plays Scarlett O'Connor, one-half of the duo, The Exes, while UK native Sam, 29, portrays on-off-boyfriend Gunnar Scott.

But Nashville's dedicated viewers made their voices heard, and CMT picked up where ABC left off. 

Popular star Will Chase, 45, who played country superstar and Connie Britton's once-love interest, will not return to the series, according to Entertainment Weekly

Hayden Panettiere, 27, who plays diva singer Juliette Barnes and Connie Britton, 49, who plays vocal legend Rayna James, were not pictured at Thursday's table read.

Like her character on the show, Hayden has been dealing with postpartum depression following the birth of her daughter Kaya, nearly two.

EW reports that she is still set to star.

Connie, whom fans embraced as Rayna, will reportedly enjoy season five as her last.

With a 22 episode season order, the star of the show has only signed up for 10 episodes on the new season.

A source revealed to the site that there is hope that she will take part in more.  

Nashville will air on Thursdays beginning with a two-hour premiere on January 5 on CMT.
