'Still a romance': Emma Watson and Dan Stevens enjoy a flirtatious exchange in sneak peek for Beauty and the Beast 

She plays the beautiful and brilliant Belle and he the awe-inspiring Beast who's really a prince when you get to know him.

Emma Watson and Dan Stevens certainly had the spark as they traded witty words in a new sneak peek for Disney's live action Beauty and the Beast.

The romance was palpable as the two stars sat side-by-side in a table reading with cast and crew, storyboards from the film displayed around the room for inspiration.

Brief though it was, the clip was enough to pique interest well ahead of the film's expected March 17, 2017 release.

'Get an exclusive look at the upcoming theatrical release of Disney Beauty and the Beast...,' the clip began.

The petite Emma, 26, had a little smile on her face with eyes downcast and her hair pulled back in a ponytail.

The casually clad Dan, 33, wore a simple blue shirt and had a bit of beard growing on his face.

'What are you reading?' Emma asked in her sweet, high-pitched voice.

'Nothing,' Dan replied in the deep voice of The Beast before confessing, 'King Arthur and the Round Table.'

'Still a romance,' the actress said, smiling a little and lifting her brow.

'Felt like a change,' Dan admitted, still entrenched in his character's deep baritone.

The director Bill Condon said on camera: 'I was so excited to hear that Disney was thinking about doing a live-action version of Beauty and the Beast.

'When something is so perfect, why get near it. The answer is technology has caught up to the ideas that were introduced in that movie.'

The preview included scenes from Disney's animated version from 1991 and breathtaking sets from the new and eagerly anticipated version.

There was the snow-covered castle, the dimly lit ballroom with its multitude of hanging chandeliers and the ravishing, perfectly shaped red rose.

The candlestick Lumiere (voiced by Ewan McGregor) and the Cogsworth the clock (voiced by Ian McKellen) also made an appearance.
