John Poppleton, from California, creates mindblowing works of art painted directly onto human skin using fluorescent shades. His project, called Under Black Light, consists of 'bodyscapes' of spectacular natural phenomena such as African sunsets, tropical oceans during rainstorm, and mountain ranges under moonlight. In more otherworldly, eerie designs the artist depicts cosmic scenes of stars, galaxies and shimmering auroras. ...read

Artist, 24, creates stunning sculptures using beaches as her blank canvas just one month after picking up a rake for first time
Chloe Dickey drew a huge floral design on a Port Macquarie beach on Saturday in under two hours. The 24-year-old from Lake Cathie, NSW, works in the wet sand at low tide meaning her drawings don't stick around for long when the waves roll in.
Feline arty! Artist loves her pet cat so much she's added it to works by Botticelli, Dali and even the Mona Lisa

Furnaces (Polydor)
Don't let me dampen your mood, pleads Harcourt on a record that gloomily tackles war, climate change, fracking and alcohol abuse. Hes being droll, but this seventh album will do little to widen his cult appeal. He does have a flair for widescreen indie-rock. That and the title tracks bright horns offer some respite from his apocalyptic visions.
★★★
Bite The Bullet (Axe Attack)
As the sax man in Madness, Lee co-wrote mega-hits House Of Fun and Embarrassment. These days, he divides his time between the nutty boys and this slick ska outfit. Mixing originals with older tunes, they cover The Beatles Ill Be Back and a Bond theme. Youll tap your feet to the title tracks lilting reggae.
★★★
Im Alone, No Youre Not (ATO)
Pop's tradition of family bands is being maintained by a wave of indie-girl sister acts. American trio Allison, Meegan and Natalie Closner aka Joseph can be added to the list. Their album title may be a bit silly, but their music mixes sublime harmonies with punchy, sun-kissed hooks. White Flag is an urgent pop number, Sweet Dreams a Sixties-slanted melodrama.
★★★★
My Heart (37 Adventures)
Raised in Austria but now based in Brighton, 20-year-old dance producer Felix Nyajo aka salute blends fractured electronic rhythms with the grandeur of Viennese orchestral music on this inventive mini-album. War Cry is an intricate instrumental. And, with a string of guest singers supplying melodic twists, One More Chance blends jazz and classical styles, and Storm is a hypnotic reggae workout..
★★★★
Beulah (Single Lock)
Formerly the male half of garlanded folk duo The Civil Wars, John Paul White is a glass-half-empty kind of guy. His former bandmate Joy Williams has taken a poppy approach since 2014s bitter split, but White sticks to anguished southern rock and country-folk on songs offering a bleak précis of a doomed relationship. Hope I Die and I Want To Make You Cry are typical, although The Martyr parodies his penchant for self-pity.
★★★
Bury Me In My Boots (Big Machine)
Three good ol boys from Nashville, The Cadillac Three sing about wine, women and pick-up trucks with plenty of swagger but precious little subtlety. With chunky guitar chords and Jaren Johnstons Southern drawl to the fore, there are hints of the Kings Of Leon on Ship Faced, but the cliches arrive thick and fast on Hot Damn and Soundtrack To A Six Pack.
