Touchy feely! Amy Adams is stunning in strapless black gown as she puts on affectionate display with co-star Jeremy Renner at Venice Film Festival

It's one of the most glamorous of film festivals, and so Amy Adams ensured she didn't disappoint at Venice on Thursday as she stepped out onto the red carpet in a stunning sleeveless black gown.

The 42-year-old actress arrived with her Arrival co-star Jeremy Renner to promote the movie, and the pair strolled along the carpet holding hands, at one point hugging in front of photographers, with the actor planting a kiss on her co-star's cheek.

Amy wore her long strawberry blonde hair straight and loose around her shoulders while her strapless gown flared out to a semi sheer skirt.

A gold choker and hooped earrings teamed with a pair of strappy black sandals completed the look.

Jeremy, meanwhile, looked dapper in a black tuxedo and bow tie, smiling broadly as he chatted with his co-star.

The pair, who are clearly good friends, hugged and posed with their arms wrapped around each other on the red carpet.

Amy plays a linguist in the movie about mysterious spacecraft landing on earth, while Jeremy stars as a mathematician with the duo forming part of an elite team to investigate the phenomena.

Show off your shoulder in a strapless gown like Amy

Amy Adams made a glamorous appearance on the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival. And since she was in Italy, it was only fitting that she chose an Italian brand to design her stunning gown.

It's by Versace, and the bespoke number featured a strapless bodice and a long, sheer pleated skirt. Amy teamed it with black peep toe pumps and accessorized with a gold statement necklace and dangly earrings.

Her gown is a one-of-a-kind so you won't find it anywhere on the internet. So shop Versace's latest offerings at Net-A-Porter instead.

Alternatively, if you have a big event coming up, emulate Amy's style with a dress from the selection below. This BCBG version should do the trick.

Earlier, the pair promoted the film at a press event where they discussed the new film, which is already attracting positive reviews from critics.

'Playing a mathematician and a physicist is a bit far from an archer,' Jeremy Renner joked to The Hollywood Reporter, referring to his Hawkeye in the Avengers films. 'So I thought there's a pretty great challenge in that.'

Meanwhile, Amy was attracted to the diversity of the role.

'So many women that I know sort of move through life with great intelligence and they have so many different roles in their life,' she said.

'She didn't feel strange to me. She felt like every woman I know who's struggling with hard things, who's working through personal issues while also heading out into the world and handling life and work. It's a constant balance. It's a constant juggling act.'
