A tattoo is as close as one can get to a lifetime commitment.

And Rihanna appears to have said 'I do' to an inking symbolizing her affection for on-again boyfriend Drake.

The 28-year-old singer got a camouflage shark tattooed on her ankle, as revealed by her tattoo artist Keith 'Bang Bang' McCurdy on Thursday.

However, sources with TMZ claim RiRi's shark tattoo immortalizes something very important to the Bajan beauty.

The insiders allege that the inking symbolizes her aquarium date with Drake, which took place this past August.

The rapper took his on-again love for a date to the local aquarium in Toronto where he is said to have given her token to remember the day - a shark doll.

What is it: On Wednesday night her tattoo artist shared a video of the singer's foot being wrapped, promising an unveiling the following day

Rihanna, the insiders claim, got her shark inking in honour of that romantic day; while Drake is said to have gotten his own tattoo in tribute to his girlfriend.

Meanwhile the Stay singer confirmed her romance with Drake with a saucy smooch during the Miami date of his Summer Sixteen tour. 

The night before the shark reveal, on Wednesday, the 28-year-old singer sported a bright blue protective cover on her ankle - but at the time the tattoo was still a mystery.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, a source said the two music stars, who have been romantically involved as well as collaborators on and off for years, are 'definitely a couple.'

'No one really knows how long they have been "official," they just decided to let it become a thing instead of hiding it from everyone. They're happy,' the insider explains.

The source goes on to claim that at Sunday night's VMAs afterparty the pair were inseparable.

'They walked in together and never left each other's side all night. He was so attentive to her. His eyes were never off her. They were necking a lot. They would hug and he would kiss into her neck,' the source said.
