Vote tacos! Latinos for Trump founder warns of 'taco trucks on every corner' if billionaire doesn't win White House... but the plan spectacularly backfires

  • Mexican-born Marco Gutierrez spoke to MSNBC's Joy Reid on Thursday
  • He tried to deliver dire warning on what would happen if Trump loses
  • Gutierrez said his culture 'is dominant and it's causing problems'
  • Says there'll be 'taco trucks on every corner' if immigration isn't curbed
  • However, the threat backfired with many voters admitting they would quite enjoy easier access to the Mexican snack

Donald Trump's most prominent Mexican-born supporter has scored a spectacular political own goal by warning a vote for Hillary will ensure 'taco trucks on every corner'.

But the 'Latinos for Trump' founder Marco Gutierrez clearly underestimated the love many Americans hold for the Mexican snack food.

In a rather incoherent rant on MSNBC’s ‘All in with Chris Hayes,’  Gutierrez attempted to deliver a dire yet delicious threat on what would happen if Trump loses the presidential election to Clinton.

‘My culture is a very dominant culture and it's imposing and it’s causing problems,’ he told host Joy Reid on Thursday night.

‘If you don’t do something about it, you’re going to have taco trucks on every corner.’

It’s a far cry from Trump’s promise of building a border wall to prevent an influx of Mexican ‘criminals and rapists’ descending on the country.

Instead, Gutierrez’s tantalizing promise is something most would welcome – at least if the reaction on Twitter is anything to go by.

It also prompted a baffled Reid to respond: ‘I don’t even know what that means and I’m almost afraid to ask.’

She tried to let Dominican-born senator Adriano Espaillat respond, who said he was offended by the comments before being interrupted by Gutierrez.

Gutierrez attempted a sort of backtrack, adding: ‘We are a culture that, we have a lot of good things that we bring to the United States, but we also have problems.’

Taco trucks is certainly one of those good things – the Washington Post has already crunched the numbers and found that as well as tacos at every turn, it would create 9.6 million new jobs and help the United States reach almost full employment.

And Trump himself has declared a love for taco bowls, in particularly, although his came from Trump Tower Grill and not a truck.

He shared a photo of himself eating one on Cinco De Mayo on Twitter, declaring: 'I love Hispanics!'

Meanwhile, many on social media are now demanding #TacoTrucksOnEveryCorner with hilarious memes flooding Twitter in response to Gutierrez’s ‘warning.’
