Chris Brown was 'set up' by beauty queen who claimed he stuck a gun in her face - and she has history of making false accusations, his lawyer claims

Chris Brown was 'set up' by the woman who has accused the singer of sticking a gun in her face, his lawyer claimed today.

Attorney Mark Garagos claimed that blonde beauty queen Baylee Curran lied when she told police that while she was looking at some diamond jewelry at Brown's $4 million home in Tarzana, outside Los Angeles, he pointed a gun at her and told her to 'get the f…out.'

Brown was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and is currently free on $250,000 bail until a court hearing, scheduled for September 20.

But according to Garagos, Brown is the victim, not Curran - who he claimed has been involved in three previous incidents involving false accusations.

Addressing a packed press conference at his downtown LA office, Garagos said: 'I was there. Based on the witnesses we interviewed, there was no gun found at the house….there was no jewelry found at the house that matched the description she gave. '

Garagos added that he has four investigators working on the case and they're looking into claims that Curran, angry at being thrown out of Brown's house, sent a text to a friend in which she declared that she was going to 'set up' Brown in retaliation.

'This MF is going down. I'm going to set him up and say he was going to shoot me,' the lawyer said the text was claimed to say.

'I know that some people find it hard to believe that people in this day and age may lie for some ulterior motive.

'But it's interesting to me that in an incident where she was supposedly frightened to death and scared, the first place she went was TMZ as opposed to a hospital, a psychiatrist… or a lawyer. I think that speak volumes.'

Garagos said that his investigators have uncovered 'no less than three' previous incidents involving Curran, all of them with 'similar acts and similar false accusations.'

He also said that he was looking into a possible relationship between Curran and Brown's ex-lover Nia Guzman with whom the hip-hop star was recently involved in a bitter custody dispute over their two year-old daughter.

Brown was arrested Tuesday after an 11-hour standoff with cops who had to wait for a search warrant before they could enter his luxury home.

The singer called his lawyer, Garagos, who said: 'I got there before the search warrant was executed. The entire house was filmed first by LAPD with video and still cameras. They then did the search of the house. 

'After the search - which did not turn up a gun or drugs - Brown was arrested and posted $250,000 bail and was released the same day, after he was brought downtown and booked.

'There have been a number of things reported that have been false, even before the search warrant was executed. I'm told that it was reported that a Carl Moore [the lawyer who represented Brown's ex girlfriend Nia Guzman in her recent custody battle with Brown over their two year-old daughter, Royalty] had stated that Royalty was in the house at the time of the incident.

'That is categorically false. She was not in the house so I need to knock that down.'

Asked about reports that Curran knows Guzman, Garagos said: 'We've been given information that there is a relationship there and obviously we're following up on that.'

He added: 'Chris was completely co-operative at all times with the LAPD officers, even to the point of unlocking certain items. Also, there were reports that a large amount of cash was found in the house.

'That is not true. There was some cash in the house. It was photographed and released to a representative of Mr. Brown.

'His so-called accuser also said in a statement to police that apparently there was some jewelry there that she described in great detail. We examined jewelry that was found in the house - with officers standing there - and nothing was found that corroborated her statement.

Her claims: Curran said she was looking at a box of diamond jewelry when one of Brown's entourage told her to step away, and then Chris came at her with the weapon 

'I'm not going to say what the piece of jewelry was in deference to the ongoing investigation. But they were looking for a specific type of jewelry and that was not found.

'To my knowledge there was no gun or guns found in that house whatsoever. There were no drugs that I'm aware of that were found in that house whatsoever.

'We are now in possession of a number of items ranging from things that purport to be a text sent by the accuser before she was picked up… to things as varied as restraining orders that had been filed against her (Curran), police reports that were issued in other jurisdictions regarding her.

'We're tracking down all of these things. I'm informed that there are active investigations on her on both coasts.

'We are trying to authenticate this text she reportedly sent. If that text is true it gives great credence to what my client said initially and that was that nothing happened and this was a setup.

'All of the witnesses who were at the house when I got there - and there were approximately six other people, other than my client - voluntarily talked to LAPD and to the best of my understanding none of them supported the story that was told. 

'The story that was conveyed to me by the witnesses there was that nothing happened and this woman got irate when she was asked to leave because she was acting in an erratic manner.'

Re-addressing reports that Baylee Curran has a relationship with Brown's ex lover Nia Guzman, Garagos added: 'What's particularly disturbing to me is that this comes on the heels of a custody battle (over Brown and Guzman's daughter, Royalty) that we won and that the lawyer in Houston who represented Royalty's mother immediately come out with a false statement (that Royalty was in the house at the time of the incident).

'I don't want to be a conspiracy theorist but do we have concerns about the custody? Of course we do, when somebody fabricates a story and falsely accuses somebody. You become a target.

'I have represented [Chris Brown] on no less than five other matters where somebody made a false accusation and once it was investigated it was proven to be false. 

'This is not the first time that somebody has made a false accusation about Chris Brown. That is somewhat disturbing, I understand, in today's society. You can become a target. And that's one of the reasons he asked her to leave in the first place - because he didn't want to get into that situation.

'Chris has, documented by LAPD, had at least six instances of people breaking into his house, of stalkers. In one case when he was out of the country, a woman actually moved into his house. She was subsequently ruled to be a psychiatric case. 

'Beside the stalkers, there was a home invasion at the house where his aunt was tied up and put in a closet. And that to this day has never been solved.'

Since the end of the stand-off it has emerged that Curran is wanted in New York for questioning over the theft of a $1,000 Louis Vuitton purse, containing $200 in cash, credit cards and a Michael Kors wallet, from a friend with whom she was vacationing at the Plaza Hotel in the course of an argument.

Curran allegedly fled with the purse and left New York, but would be liable to be arrested if she returns to the city.

Her former friend, whose purse she allegedly stole, is said to have got a restraining order against Curran from a judge in California. Despite still proudly claiming to be the Miss Regional California 2016, Curran was stripped of the title last month.

A representative from the organization told DailyMail.com that Curran was crowned April 1st. She was dethroned July 5th of this year 'due to a breach of contract.'

Curran, a model and aspiring actress, was not available for comment on these allegations.

She also later posted a video on Instagram in which she said: 'Do you all honestly think I wanted this, that I caused this? If somebody put a gun to your head what would you do? Call the police?'

Since Brown pleaded guilty to the felony assault case involving ex-girlfriend Rihanna, he was forbidden to possess a firearm under California law.

According to TMZ, Brown was tested for drugs and gave a blood sample to officers after arriving at jail.
