Flashback Friday! Paris Jackson mixes punk style and tie dye after reconnecting with her estranged mother

Paris Jackson's outfits have always veered toward the idiosyncratic.

Friday was no different for Michael Jackson's only daughter.

The 18-year-old was spotted leaving a petrol station in the Los Angeles suburb of Calabasas, combining a rash of retro looks and flashing her midriff.

A tie dye crop top added a 1960s flair to what was mostly punk chic, what with ripped jeans rolled up to mid-calf and the sprawl of tattoos up her arms.

One of those tattoos is of her legendary father's face as it appeared on the cover of his 1991 album Dangerous.

A pair of ankle bracelets accessorised her black sandals, which matched the black beret perched on her cropped blonde hair.

The previous day, she'd posted a photo of herself to Instagram wearing the same beret and sitting in her car. A Harry Potter filter gave her the title character's wand, red and gold Gryffindor scarf, glasses and lightning-shaped forehead scar.

In another throwback, this time to 2000, she captioned the picture: '*hums stupify by disturbed.'

On Tuesday, TMZ revealed that Paris had rekindled her relationship with her mother, Debbie Rowe, after a two-year estrangement.

Their rapprochement was reportedly the result of the 57-year-old's breast cancer diagnosis, for which she'll start chemotherapy this month.

Paris allegedly began excising Rowe from her life when she stopped answering her calls. Earlier this year, she upped the ante by unfollowing her on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Rowe had expressed her distress on Facebook, writing: 'One of the saddest things in this world is to see a child grow up hating one of their parents because they only got one side of the story.'

Rowe and the Thriller singer were each other's second spouses. The King Of Pop had finalised his divorce from Lisa-Marie Presley the year he married the nurse.

They'd met at the dermatology clinic where she was working and he was having his infamous vitiligo treated.

The marriage lasted three years, producing a now 19-year-old son called Michael Joseph 'Prince' and Paris, before finally splintering in 1999.

The We Are The World singer produced another child via surrogacy, Prince Michael 'Blanket' Jackson II, in 2002 and died in 2009.

Reconciliation: They had reportedly been estranged for two years when the daughter cut her mother out of her life. They are pictured here in 2013.

Monday would have been the music icon's 58th birthday, an occasion his children commemorated on social media.

On Instagram that day, Paris shared a sonnet her elder brother wrote about their father, entitled The Myth, The Legend, The Man. He fêted the singer therein as 'the archangel known as Michael,' to whom 'Everyone is family, not a fan.'

Paris captioned the poem: 'love this.. proud of you big brother. and happy birthday to the man that means more to us than anything and anyone ever could.'
