Their ace in the hole? Michael Strahan enjoys family day at the US Open day before he is due to join struggling Good Morning America
He is being touted as a potential ratings winner for Good Morning America.
But Michael Strahan did not look under pressure as he took in the tennis at the US Open in New York on Monday.
The former NFL star looked like he was having a great time with his family the day before he is due to become a full-time member of the GMA cast.
New balls please: Michael Strahan looked at ease as he enjoyed a day at the US Open in New York Monday ahead of his Good Morning America debut
Michael, 44, seemed remarkably at ease as he enjoyed some quality time with 28-year-old girlfriend Kayla Quick and his twin 12-year-old daughters Isabella and Sophia.
The former New York Giants star is joining the GMA's regular cast of Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, Lara Spencer, Amy Robach and Ginger Zee.
He had been hosting the show part time while also co-presenting Live with Kelly Ripa, but when she discovered he was negotiating a full-time position on GMA, he was fired from the show.
Good Morning America remains television's most popular morning programme, averaging 4.96million viewers a day since the beginning of the year.
Daddy cool: He had brought along his daughters Isabella and Sophia to the event
Clap: He gave a hearty round of applause after a particularly impressive point
Keeping her sweet: The 44-year-old showered his much younger lover with lots of attention
But that audience is down 10 percent from 2015, according to the Nielsen company.
More importantly, GMA is down 15 percent among viewers aged 25-to-54, and that's the demographic that most advertising rates for news programs are based upon. NBC now leads ABC in this category for 2016.
ABC News president James Goldston said: 'Michael's proven to be a tireless and versatile broadcaster with an incredible ability to connect with people, from veterans and all kinds of newsmakers to a host of American cultural icons.
'He is a great modern thinker and leader.'
As well as Michael, a live studio audience and less emphasis on news is said to be on the agenda for the flagging show.
Colourful past: Kayla was arrested in 2005 she was accused by her own grandmother of stealing $6,000 worth of jewelry
Affection: And the beauty certainly seems to have stolen Michael's heart
Twin-credible: He chatted with his other girl after another impressive point
While twice-married Michael is a man in demand, his latest lover has a more colourful past.
Kayla, 28, was arrested in 2005 when the then 18-year-old was accused by her own grandmother of stealing $6,000 worth of jewelry.
Around that same time she also began a job as a waitress at a Tampa strip club called Thee DollHouse.
The felony charge was turned over to the juvenile courts however, so it is not clear what, if any, punishment the teenager received for the incident.
And he's off: Perhaps he was heading home to practice ahead of his big day on Tuesday
Shady character: Michael looked as cool as they come in a pair of sunglasses
Making the draft: The former NFL star has been signed up in a bid to boost flagging ratings
Gone but not forgotten: Kella Ripa was fuming when she discovered her co-star was trying to jump ship
