Kim Kardashian reveals patches of hair loss after extensions take a toll

Kim Kardashian's locks usually look oh so thick, bouncy and picture perfect.

But when she gave her glam squad the day off on Monday, the 35-year-old's hair extensions appeared to have taken a toll.

Patches of hair loss could be seen on the side of Kim's head as she arrived back to her New York City apartment from the gym.

It seems Kim may have been relying on weaves to cover up hair loss after welcoming her son Saint in December.

But the extensions have likely caused further damage by pulling on her roots, resulting in what is known as Traction Alopecia.

It is common for women to lose more hair than usual after giving birth, and Kim's 70lbs weight loss over the past nine months may have also caused her locks to thin.

Kim has previously revealed that she only washes her hair twice a week.

The star shared on her website kimkardashianwest.com that she limits herself to shampooing her locks once every three or four days to stop them from getting dehydrated.

She wrote: 'Keeping your hair shiny and soft in the winter can be difficult! I only shampoo it twice a week to prevent it from drying out. I also love using hydrating at-home hair masks.'

The television personality previously revealed she opts for a sleek ponytail when she feels her hair is starting to get greasy.

After debuting several high fashion looks during her trip to NYC, Kim Kardashian went casual for a recent gym outing. The mother-of-two was spotted in a hoodie from her husband Kanye West's Life Of Pablo clothing line and pool slides from her very own Kimoji collection.

Slide sandals have gone from the very unglamorous shoes that athletes wear to a high fashion darling as brand's like Gucci, Givenchy and Miu Miu have all tapped into the trend. Now they're decked out in luxe furs and bright colors and worn by the likes of style mavens like Rihanna and Sofia Richie just to name a few.

So it's no surprise that Kim has gotten in on the look too. Her slides are emblazoned with the words Turbo Thot and though they're not available yet, they soon will be so get those credit cards ready.

She shared: 'A sleek ponytail is one of my go-to looks at the moment. I usually wash my hair maybe every three to five days and on the third or fourth day I'll do a slicked-back ponytail. I get my hair super straight first with a ceramic iron.'

Meanwhile, despite preferring her hair to be more feminine, Kim takes an open approach to fashion and is happy to borrow clothes from the men's rack.

She said: 'Menswear has such an unexpectedly sexy vibe! Try an oversized blazer, a white button down shirt or a wide-leg trouser pant for a chic way to steal your style from the guys!'
