On one post, before the account was closed down by Tumblr, he posted a picture of himself holding a kitten
And on one occasion, he even held a question and answer session using Tumblr, addressing questions including 'do you miss your mother' to which he replied 'At times, yes'.
But he also issued chilling responses to other questions, apparently joking about gay men deserving to be 'thrown off a high building' the New York Times reports.
His popularity among the ranks of ISIS was such that he received an astonishing 10,000 marriage requests during his time as a jihadi fighter up until his marriage.
On one post, before the account was closed down by Tumblr, he posted a picture of himself holding a kitten and another showed him holding a new born child aloft.
According to the New York Times, Yilmaz is of Turkish descent and left the Royal Netherlands Army in 2013 to join rebels fighting against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

In one television interview, with the Dutch state broadcaster NOS in 2015 - a discussion that took eight months to set up - he insisted he had no intention of returning to his homeland to carry out a terror atrocity.
But in separate interviews, he defended the ISIS terror attack on Paris in which a team of jihadis butchered 130 innocent people in a wave of gun attacks and suicide bombings at the Stade de France, the Bataclan music hall and outside bars and restaurants.
He said attacks on French civilians were 'fair game' when viewed in the context of air strikes on ISIS by the French Air Force.
Although yet to be confirmed, it has been reported that Yilmaz was killed in an air strike in Raqqa.
