Isabelle Dinoire, 49, was given a new nose, mouth and chin at Amiens Hospital, France, in 2005 after being attacked by a dog. She has died after receiving treatment for two types of cancer.

Tens of thousands of ships have passed through Tower Bridge since it first opened more than 120 years ago, but few would have caught the eye as much as this extraordinary £225million bombproof superyacht. The distinctive white 'Motor Yacht A'- owned by Russian tycoon Andrey Melnichenko (inset, with his wife Aleksandra), who is known as the 'King of Bling' - was spotted sailing up the River Thames in London on a wet and windy Saturday afternoon. The 390ft vessel, which is one of the world's 25 largest superyachts, features three swimming pools, including one with a glass floor, luxurious cabins and an unconventional design described as an upside down hull. And the boat, which launched eight years ago and was reported in April to have gone on the market, was photographed mooring alongside D-Day bombardment vessel HMS Belfast having sailed up the Thames.

The group posted a series of inflammatory tweets this afternoon (inset) as it responded to criticism over a six-hour stunt which saw nine activists chaining themselves to the runway (left) after sailing up to the airport in a dinghy. As photographs emerged of white men and women chained to a wooden tripod on the tarmac (left and right), alongside banners reading 'black lives matter', critics questioned why there were no black activists taking part in the protest. But this afternoon, UK Black Lives Matter defended the protest, citing it as an example of 'white allyship under black leadership'. Campaigner and journalist Wail Qasim, an activist with Black Lives Matter, said white people protesting had given black people a voice. He added: 'This shows the sort of responsibility that white people should be taking. They should be willing to put bodies on the line for black rights.' The mayhem began at 5.40am when nine protesters chained themselves to a tripod in the middle of the tarmac to campaign against the UK's 'racist climate change', cancelling dozens of flights and delaying several more.

Hannah Gavios (right), 23, got lost on pitch-black Railay Beach in the resort of Krabi when a local man who offered to show her the way to her hotel sexually assaulted her. 'I started punching him in the face and beating him up and biting off his ear. I was biting his ear so hard it almost came off. His ear was half torn off,' Ms Gavios said. She ran from him and feel off a cliff in the darkness. The man scrambled after her and sexually molested her again as she lay helpless. Eventually Ms Gavios, from New York, was saved (left) and rushed to hospital in Phuket.

Undoubtedly the press has every right to intrude. But, importantly, Mr Vaz has every right to refuse to be ashamed. The only pity in this sorry mess is he doesn't have the guts to say so.

Keith Vaz has quit his prestigious role as chairman of the Home Affairs Committee after bowing to pressure from MPs. The Labour MP said 'those who hold others to account must themselves accountable' as he announced his departure. Mr Vaz was thought to be trying to cling on by standing aside temporarily, but has now resigned altogether.

The pit bull bit into the neck of the beagle, which appeared lucky to not sustain life-threatening injuries.

The Killing of JonBenet: The Truth Uncovered aired Monday night on A&E.; The new documentary aired never-before-seen footage of Burke Ramsey's police interview in 1998, two years after his little sister's murder (left). In the interview, Burke, then 9, recalls the last time he saw his sister. JonBenet's father also sat down for an interview with A&E;, again proclaiming his innocence. For years, JonBenet's parents Patsy and John (Mr Ramsey pictured top right, in his A&E; interview_ were the subject of public suspicion about the case, but police have since cleared their names. JonBenet Ramsey (bottom right) was six years old on December 26, 1996, when she was found strangled to death in her basement in Boulder, Colorado. Experts who spoke with A&E; said they believed an intruder was to blame.

Linda Bingham (pictured left) returned from a family trip away to find large section of her quarter-acre garden in East Yorkshire looking as though it had been ploughed (right) after an infestation of chafer beetles (inset). The large, white grubs feed on and weaken the roots of grasses which then allows birds and other wildlife, such as badgers and foxes to easily rip up lawns in search of the insects.

Many a mother coos over the first time her baby reacts to the sound of music and the owner of these adorable Alaskan Malamute puppies was no exception. Footage shows five pups sitting in the boot of a car. But when their owner begins to play some music they stand up and cock their heads. At one point they adorably move their heads to the beat of the rhythm, stopping dead still when their owner pauses the music.

Many of us will have walked past someone we think might be famous before turning to check if it's really them. And these joggers did a hilarious double take after running past Prince Charles as he walked in London today (above). The 67-year-old Prince of Wales was spotted strolling through Green Park, close to his home of Clarence House. Heir to the throne Charles was there to sow seeds for a wildflower meadow named in honour of the Queen. The royal joined school children to scatter yellow rattle flower seeds to start the new grassland. He began the Coronation Meadows campaign as a tribute to his mother to mark 60 years since she was crowned. The project, which was started by Charles in 2013, has created a new meadow in every county in Britain.

Damian Bell's garden backs onto a store in Edenthorpe, South Yorkshire, which is lined by a row of 25ft trees - and he was puzzed that nothing was growing in it. But the 44-year-old eventually discovered the lawn of his detached property was laced with giant roots creeping under the fence and sucking the ground dry. Many of the roots were too large to remove without destroying the lawn and he is worried they will damage the foundations of his home and conservatory. Mr Bell claims to have had no luck in pestering Tesco since July 2015 asking them to sort the problem - despite complaining to the store manager once a month. Kristi Moseley and her son Eli were at the notorious crocodile-haven Cahills Crossing on the fringe of the Kakadu National Park on Sunday. Ms Moseley said she counted 21 saltwater crocodiles ranging from three to four metres in length lying in wait beside the shallow bridge (pictured). While the water was too deep for most vehicles to safely travel through, footage shows one driver cruising across before coming across a huge saltwater crocodile perched almost level with the crossing.

Sarita Yadav said a 'voice in her head' told her to throw the boy out of a 30ft window while he was being treated for septicaemia at a private hospital in Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh in northern India. Yadav and her husband Satish, had taken the baby to the hospital after he fell ill, as his mother was too weak and needed his father's care. Footage captured on the CCTV camera installed in the hospital shows the horrifying moment Yadav walked out of the room with the newborn in her arms, left, before throwing him off the balcony. The brazen woman is then seeing grabbing the towel and walking back to the room pretending she is carrying the baby, right. The infant is now recovering in hospital, inset.

Footage shows a group of researchers standing on a mountain in Zanskar, India when an avalanche begins to pour down a nearby mountain, leading them to gasp. The terrifying behemoth makes its way all the way down the mountain. But one very brave researcher runs to a nearby rock to get a closer look of the avalanche, defying danger. It is not known if anyone was injured in the avalanche.

A set of vertigo inducing photos have revealed the incredible view the 'Over The Edge' swing in Amsterdam offers its visitors although those who are afraid of heights should avoid the experience! Sitting 330ft above ground, on the roof of a 22-storey skyscraper, the swing is the tallest in Europe and is one of the Dutch capital's newest attractions.

A baby, who is believed to be from the US, has gone viral on YouTube after her mother uploaded footage of her laughing like an 'evil genius'. The montage of the infant's laughter which sounds uncannily like a cartoon villain has been watched over 320,000 times. Her aunt Carrie Nieman posted on the video that, in fact, her niece's big brother taught her the distinctive giggle. One commenter added, 'Hope she can still do that laugh when she grows up. Hilarious.'

A couple from North Yorkshire were unexpectedly treated to a private flight after realising they were the only two passengers on the plane (left inset). Carrie Fisher and her partner Kyle McNicol (right inset), both from York, were travelling from Krabi, Thailand, to Penang in Malaysia when they made the surprising discovery. Deciding to take full advantage of their situation, the couple decided to seat hop (main) around the plane and even experiment with some quirky dance moves.

The small team of scientists were observing southern right whales' behaviour in Hermanus, Eastern Cape, South Africa, when a great white shark came just feet from their craft. The two beasts crossed paths in front of the amazed scientists, and the unusual coming together made for some amazing photographs. One of the experts Jean Trefson said: 'There is just so much we don't know about these incredible predators and it was fascinating to observe both species in close proximity from above.'

A tourist has made a photo album of himself at the Leaning Tower Of Pisa in Italy, using his fellow tourists as props. Instead of leaning against the tower the man spent his time at the Italian site leaning against the other men and women who were posed up next to the building. In the pictures, he looks like he is high-fiving or leaning against mini people.

The Summer House (pictured) is perched on the edge of the Cotswold Escarpment with views over an area of natural beauty and is being sold fully furnished and ready to move into. Grade II listed, the impressive home was originally built in about 1770 as a private banqueting room for a wealthy family who lived in a nearby manor house, but after being left derelict for years it was turned into a house in 1990. It was believed to have been built by Matthew Hale, a great-great-grandson of the famous Lord Chief Justice Matthew Hale, as a small banqueting room 250 yards from the Hale family's main residence.

A £420,000 solar powered boat (left) is set to become the world's most sustainable water taxi. The eye-catching 39ft catamaran is being developed by Dutch marine designers Soel Yachts in a bid to capitalise on the growing ecotourism market. It is hoped that this new design, which can even be connected to waterside houses to top up their energy supplies, will transform the way tourists go sightseeing.

From Arizona to Iceland, stunning landscapes from across the globe are brought to life in these incredible 3D images. Professional photographer Paul Reiffer, 36, spent six years compiling superb landscape shots from all over the world that could be transformed into a 3D video. He said: 'The first image of San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge is my favourite. It is the most dramatic.' The one minute and 42 second video consists of around 20 images of landscapes including one in Iceland where a block of ice literally pops out of the picture.

These stunning photographs of densely-populated China show there are rare moments and remote regions where another soul is not seen for miles. The images have been taken in picturesque locations like the rice fields of Yuanyang (top left), deserts of Dunhuang (top right), the serene waters of the Li river (bottom left), the towering cliffs of Huangshan (inset) and the barren landscape of the Muztagh Ata mountains (bottom right).

A selection of hilarious pictures from Chinese social media have proved how men could turn their girlfriends or wives from attractive to unflattering with a click on the camera. These photos show the women's normal looks (inset) as well as awkward moments of them snapped by their male partners (main). These images were first shared by a Weibo user named ' mid-night teacher Xu ' on August 26 in an article called 'never let your boyfriend take pictures of you'. She said the pictures were sent to her by web users after she asked on her account: 'How does it feel to have your pictures taken by your boyfriend?'
