Full horror of Tamra Judge and Vicki Gunvalson dune buggy crash revealed on Real Housewives of Orange County

The full horror of the quad bike crash that left Tamra Judge and Vicki Gunvalson airlifted to hospital was played out in full on the latest Real Housewives of Orange County.

The episode Shock and Roll showed how the two women excitedly got into an ATV along with Kelly Dodd and Heather Dubrow, even fighting over who got the best seats up front.

As Tamra sped off behind the driving wheel, the women’s screams regularly flipped between fear and fun during the high-speed ride.

But they seemed to sense they were losing control as they sped towards a sand dune, with driver Tamra shouting: ‘Oh s**t I’m scared!’

At the top of the dune, the quad flipped over - with cameras showing the horror inside the vehicle as the women took the full impact of the crash as it rolled over completely, finally landing back on its wheels the right way up.

Most dramatically, Kelly Dodd’s helmet was shown flying off her head before the first major impact, with 54-year-old Vicki crashing against her in the back.

After the roll, there was a stunned silence before Vicki, the panic clear in her voice, sobbed: ‘Ow, I’m hurt you guys!’

Front passenger Heather, 47, was first out of the quad, quickly reminding everyone not to move as she screamed for medics.

The cameras inside the quad showed Vicki slumped over and vomiting in the lap of Kelly who desperately cried out: ‘Oh my God she hurt her neck - she has a bad neck! Oh my God!’

‘Tamra’s down,’ a voice was heard saying as the camera showed her out of the vehicle and laid out on her back, clearly badly hurt and with her horrified mother Sandy looking on helplessly.

‘Tamra looks impaired lying on the ground,’ Heather recalled later. ‘I don’t see any blood anywhere which is good - but sometimes the worst injuries don’t show any blood.’

After park rangers race to the scene in dune buggies, Vicki sobbed that she is ‘numb’ and cried: ‘Everything hurts.’

‘Come on Vicki you’re the toughest chick I know - come on!’ Heather told her, trying to rally her strength.

Heather - who later said she instantly kicked into ‘help mode’ - was also seen comforting Tamra, measuring her that ‘it was an accident, everyone’s OK.’

‘I’ve never been so scared in my life,’ Tamra cried quietly, still laying prone on the ground being treated.

’Thank God you’re alive,’ one of the women was heard saying as Tamra was first to be carried to a red emergency helicopter that arrived, with Vicki soon joining her after her stretcher was loaded onto a buggy to get there.

After both women were taken to Desert Regional Hospital in Palm Springs - with Tamra's husband Eddie, whose birthday they had gone to Glamis to celebrate, joining her in the chopper - Kelly then comforted Sandy back at their camp area of RVs.

‘All I could see was her feet, and I recognized her boots so I knew it was my daughter,’ Sandy cried of seeing daughter Tamra prone on the ground.

‘It’s scaring me really bad. She’s my first born. I’m waiting to hear and I’m sick to my stomach.’

Kelly, meanwhile, realized she had hurt her elbow - the pain initially hidden by shock - but realized she was lucky it was not much worse.

‘My helmet fell off - it’s a miracle I didn’t get, like, a concussion or like hurt myself.'

She then admitted that she removed the helmet because she felt ‘claustrophobic’ with the straps, telling Sandy: ‘I kinda took it off and put it on as best I could - and I didn’t do it right.’

Before the dramatic ride, Heather had earlier been seen joking about how Tamra had previously ‘almost killed me, like, three times in a moving vehicle,’ and admitted she feared others racing the dunes were ‘going to fall off that hill.’

But she soon got into the ride, recalling later that just before the crash she thought: 'Being in this ATV feels like a roller coaster. I love it, it's part of the fun.'

While Eddie was with his wife, Vicki was alone in hospital, with the friends at least three hours away at their camp area.

Instead, they called Meghan King Edmonds who they knew was in her home just 45 minutes away, clearly suggesting that they hoped she would rush over to support Vicki.

Instead, she said it was ‘too bad’ she was alone, and merely said: ‘Keep me posted guys.’

Later, she admitted bluntly: ‘I didn’t want to go visit Vicki in the hospital because I’m not her friend.’

A teaser for next week’s episode suggests her cold-hearted approach sparks a fight, with Heather calling it ‘f***ed up’ when Meghan suggested they should go see her instead despite being so far away in comparison.

Meghan was also told to ‘go to hell’ when she said: ‘I’m so angry with Tamra for being so reckless.’

But the 31-year-old also had good news - finally getting the call from her doctor confirming that her treatment had worked and she was pregnant.

‘For the rest of my life, I will never be the same person I was five minutes ago. It’s a lot to take in. Now I’m going to be called Mommy! That’s an incredible feeling,’ she said.

But she could not hide her concern at how disinterested husband Jim appeared even yawning when he knew the doctor was about to announce their results - admitting: ‘I’m so scared to be a mom, because I’m his third wife and he has four children with two women and those relationships didn’t work out. I don’t wanna raise this baby alone.’

‘He’s not just a sperm donor - I need him to be a part of this emotionally and physically,’ she added later.

Meghan had used her pregnancy to avoid the sand dune trip, while Shannon Beador blamed ‘lung issues,’ telling Tamra by phone: ‘My doctor told me it’s not a good idea to be around all that sand. Sorry!’

‘I really don’t have time for negative, lousy attitudes in my life anymore,’ Tamra complained to camera at the time. ‘No room for p***ies!’

Shannon had drama of her own, however, after her home finally went into escrow, selling for $9,050,000 but leaving her just 13 days to get out.

‘Outwardly, I am calm Shannon. But inside I’m screaming! Thirteen days - that’s less than two weeks!’ she complained.

‘I would like to purchase a smaller home and make it to my specifications. That can’t be done in 13 days!’

She admitted that downsizing would make her miss many of her unusual luxuries in the sold home, where she was ‘used to three washing machines.’

‘I’m not going to have hospital-grade air, I’m not going to have the filtration system - and I’m not going to have crystals buried in my basement and in the heart of my house in the walls,’ she said. ‘Am I happy about it? No.’

But despite the tight deadline, at the time of her friend’s ATV crash, Shannon and husband were heading to stay at Meghan’s for a golfing weekend, with Shannon admitting she was an ‘avoider’ when it came to packing up her home.
