KATIE HOPKINS says Keith Vaz can tell us to mind our own business

No matter how uncomfortable his dark deeds might make the missionary massive, Vaz (left, in Parliament yesterday, and bottom right) has done nothing illegal, writes KATIE HOPKINS (top right). I believe if you make your living in the public eye, the press has every right to try and sneak into any bit of it. But equally, an individual has every right to conduct their private life as they please. It seems to me the only line Keith Vaz crossed is heading up the Home Affairs Committee, currently tasked with deciding on the legality of prostitution, without declaring his hand. Undoubtedly the press has every right to intrude. But, importantly, Mr Vaz has every right to refuse to be ashamed. The only pity in this sorry mess is he doesn't have the guts to say so.

The former London Mayor said Mr Vaz should not be forced to stand down from the committee even if the allegations were true - and could not resist reigniting the row over his claim Hitler supported Zionism.

It has emerged that the Labour MP has been using his Commons salary to pay staff, raising fresh questions about how he has built up his wealth.

Mr Vaz was thought to be trying to cling on to his prestigious committee role by standing aside temporarily. But he eventually bowed to days of pressure this afternoon.
