Mary-Kate Olsen and her husband Olivier Sarkozy waved goodbye to summer on Monday as they caught a private jet out of The Hamptons together.

The 30-year-old actress turned fashion designer and the 47-year-old banker were seen sharing a laugh before boarding the plane.

They hadn't simply spent their trip relaxing in the sunshine however, as last week Mary-Kate competed in the Hampton Classic Horse Show.

The former child star was dressed for comfort for the journey on Labor Day, sporting all black.

Mary-Kate wore an oversize blazer, loose-fitting trousers and a furry scarf, carrying two leather handbags with a rucksack on her back.

The younger Olsen twin (by just two minutes) went make-up free under her huge sunglasses and wore her honey-coloured hair down and unbrushed.

Meanwhile Olivier, the half-brother of former President of France Nicolas Sarkozy, in a black blazer over a grey sweater and blue shirt, with corduroy trousers and black loafers.

The couple had a few bags with them and had some assistance in loading their luggage onto the small plane.

Last Thursday, Olivier was spotted giving Mary-Kate a good luck kiss before she competed in the Hampton Classic in Bridgehampton.

The New York Minute star has taken part in the show since 2013, and won during her first year. This time around she had four horses participating.

Other familiar faces at this year's event were Bruce Springsteen's daughter Jessica, Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick's daughter Tabitha, Steve Jobs' daughter Eve, and Matt Lauer's daughter Romy.

Mary-Kate and Olivier started dating in May 2012 and married in a small ceremony at their $6.25million New York City townhouse in November of last year.

Meanwhile Olivier was previously married to Charlotte Bernard for 14 years before their separation in 2010.

The former couple, who finalised their divorce in 2011, are parents to teenage children Julien and Margo.
