Speaking to Red magazine, the 47-year-old actress parodied claims made about women, as she scoffed: '"This week she’s too fat to be loved. This week she’s too skinny to be loved." What are you going to do? Everyone has fat days and, if you can’t be loved on them, then whatever.'

The Bridget Jones's Baby star added that it has become far too commonplace nowadays to criticise people through the anonymity of the internet as she questioned what has bred today's 'bullying culture'.

She asked: 'Where is it coming from that it seems okay to sit in your room and cause pain to somebody, for the sport of it? When did we become that?'

But whilst Renee may have oozed confidence and glamour in the accompanying shoot - which saw her dazzle in a black midi dress and chic pink coat - the star revealed she wasn't always so self assured.

Renee has previously spoken out about the benefits of getting older, and recently told the Daily Mail that aging lead to 'becoming the best version of yourself.'

She explained: ‘I think a woman only gets more interesting as she gets older. Youth and superficial beauty have their place and that is, understandably, celebrated to a degree. But that’s so fleeting and it’s only for a moment in your life.

‘As you mature, you’re not just getting older, you’re becoming more of who you are supposed to be, and becoming the best version of yourself, better and more interesting.

'It’s a more powerful beauty and it’s a more valuable beauty. Besides - I don’t want to stay the same! I’m curious about what comes next!’
