Heida Reed is resplendent in fitted forest green jacket and long-flowing skirt as she films Poldark series 3

The first episode of season two aired on Sunday night to the delight of avid fans.

But the cast and crew of Poldark are already looking ahead to series three, as they continued filming in Cornwall on Tuesday.

Actress Heida Reed, 28, was resplendent in a forest green blazer and matching pleated skirt as her Elizabeth Poldark wandered through a forest for one scene.

With her hair arranged in a single plait over her shoulder, she looked a picture of elegance as an attendant helped her with her flowing skirt.

She then changed into a brown blouse and straw hat for another scene where she boarded a horse-drawn carriage with Jack Farthing who plays George Warleggan.

Jack, clad in a red jacket, waistcoat and top hat, could be seen chatting to his co-star as their blue carriage made its way through the woodland, pulled by two mares.

The successful BBC series, directed by Edward Bazalgette and Will McGregor, follows soldier Ross Poldark.

When he returns home from the American War of Independence he finds his father dead and estate ruined.

What's worse, his former lover Elizabeth assumed he was dead and ended up marrying his cousin Francis.

He then sets out to regain his village and control of the mines lost during his time in battle, with the help of his servant Demelza (Eleanor) who he ends up marrying.

But his character has faced a struggle between his love for his wife and his lust for ex-fiancé Elizabeth.

Despite baring his chest once again for the opening episode of the second series, Poldark failed to win Sunday's ratings war – instead being pipped to the post by ITV's Victoria.

Flexing his ripped muscles and showing off his toned torso, Poldark sent 5.1million viewers into a frenzy as he hacked away at rocks with a pickaxe while topless.

But it wasn't quite enough to make viewers stay tuned into the period drama – with 100,000 more opting to watch the less steamy drama about a young Queen Vic.

Official viewing figures show that Victoria was the most watched drama on TV last night - attracting 5.2million viewers on average and a peak audience of 5.9million.
