'The landlady is VERY Rachel': Cold Feet viewers urge James Nesbitt's Adam to ditch his young new bride in favour of the 'Helen Baxendale lookalike'

  • Helen Baxendale's character Rachel died in the fifth series of the show
  • Fans tuning into the new series last night were still mourning her death
  • Many urged James Nesbitt's character Adam to ditch his new bride Angela
  • On Twitter, viewers thought Air BnB landlady was 'very Rachel'

When Helen Baxendale's character Rachel was dramatically killed in the fifth series of Cold Feet, it was one of the biggest television moments in the last twenty years.

So it's not surprising that plenty of viewers tuning in for the sixth series - after a 13-year hiatus - were still missing one of the original show's major stars.

After the latest incarnation of Cold Feet aired on ITV last night, plenty of Rachel fans were immediately looking for a replacement love match for her husband Adam, played by James Nesbitt...and they weren't especially keen on the one writers have served up.

Those watching quickly took to Twitter to say they weren't too happy with the choice Adam had made - glamorous younger women Angela - predicting instead that he might end up with his Air BnB landlady, Tina.

Last night's episode saw Adam chatting to Tina (Leanne Best) about his doubts about his new bride Angela (Karen David) and sharing more than a few flirtatious moments after she mistook him for a taxi driver.

Others simply pondered whether actress Baxendale was missing being part of the Cold Feet line-up.

Loved #ColdFeet. Can't wait for next week ❤️❤️ wonder if @Helen_Baxendale has been sat at home watching it.

Rachel met a tragic end in the penultimate episode of series five when she was killed while changing the music channels in her car when driving.

Producers failed to persuade Helen Baxendale, whose character Rachel died in a car crash, to return to the comedy drama as a ghost.

Scriptwriter Mike Bullen admits: 'She said: “Thanks, but no thanks. It’s a c**p part.” She made the right decision.'
