Furious Catherine Tyldesley hits out at claims her music career is failing after 'selling only 113 tickets for debut gig'

Coronation Street's Catherine Tyldesly has hit out at reports claiming her music career is failing after struggling to sell tickets for her first gig.

Reports revealed the 32-year-old soap star, whose debut single Rise flopped last month, has only sold 113 seats for her Manchester show on December 3.

But the furious actress has now slammed the reports, insisting that the tickets will sell when she starts advertising the gig.

Her representative told MailOnline: 'Cath has a string of TV appearances over the next few months to announce her new album released in November and her concert will be mentioned during these interviews.

'Once people know about both the show and her new music we are confident that ticket sales will be given a significant boost.'

In the initial report, a source told the Sun On Sunday: 'You'd have expected far more tickets to have shifted by now. But the reception has been lukewarm.

'It's a concern for the team at the theatre, who aren't keen on letting the show go ahead with a lot of empty seats.'

Empty: Only 346 out of 459 seats have been filled for the big night on December 3

One iTunes user wrote: 'Don't quit your day job, sweetheart.'

Catherine is due to release her upcoming album in November.

Last month, she said of her music career during an appearance on ITV's Loose Women: 'I've always sang but it's been on the back-burner for a while, it was a bit out of the blue.

'It's predominately jazz but a bit of a mixture. Rise has salsa and R'n'B vibe '

The actress, who plays Corrie barmaid Eva Price, famously lost six stone thanks to a vigorous health and fitness regime after tipping the scales at 15 stone.

She took a trip down memory lane as she poked fun at her overweight teen years in her own version of The Great British Bake Off on Instagram on Wednesday night.

Sharing a slew of clips, the star, 32, ensured a cardboard cut-out from her heavier days made a cheeky appearance as she went head to head in a cake-off with her personal trainer, Matt Warner.

Catherine tied the knot with husband Tom Pitfield on May 21 in a romantic ceremony at Colshaw Hall in Cheshire attended by her Coronation Street co-stars.

Fitness fanatic Catherine and personal trainer Tom started dating in March 2014, with the actress falling pregnant with their son Alfie, now 16 months, a few months later.

They announced Catherine's pregnancy shortly after their engagement in August 2014.
