Forget the hair transplant, what's going on with James Nesbitt's eyebrows? Cold Feet fans in a frenzy over his character Adam's 'painted-on' arches

  • The sixth series of Cold Feet aired last night after a 13-year hiatus
  • Fans loved the remake but were obsessed with James Nesbitt's eyebrows
  • The Irish actor has had a hair transplant and was sporting very dark arches
  • Some compared him to Roger Moore, David Guest and Silvio Berlusconi

It's 13 years since Cold Feet was last on our screens so it's not surprising that some of the show's star cast have altered a little when it comes to their appearance.

While actors John Thomson, 47, and James Nesbitt, 51, have both famously undergone hair transplants, viewers tuning in for last night's new series were less worried about the thicker thatches on display than they were about Nesbitt's rather theatrical eyebrows.

He's always had a decent pair... but have James Nesbitt's brows had a little help along the way? Pictured, left, in the pilot for the show in 1997, and, right, in the new series of Cold Feet

In contrast to the pilot series of the show, which aired in March 1997, Nesbitt's brows appeared much darker and thicker, said those tuning in for the remake of the show, the sixth in the series.‏

@neilhassall declared another famous pair of eyebrows had stiff competition from Nesbitt: '#ColdFeet The stars of the show tonight for me are James Nesbitt's eyebrows. Sir Roger Moore has competiton!'

@liverpoolimages said he was: 'Transfixed by James Nesbitt's eyebrows. Can't concentrate on the show #ColdFeet #JamesNesbitt #eyebrows'

@andrewdunn62 asked: 'What's up with James Nesbitt's eyebrows?' and ‏@emmavj penned: 'James Nesbitt's eyebrows (David Guest's spirit lives on).'

Some believed the actor had 'painted on' his big arches; @TheRealJHomer wrote: 'When did James Nesbitt start drawing on his eyebrows?'

‏@Mark_Collyer said: 'I can't get past James Nesbitt's Berlusconi dyed hair and eyebrows.'

There were plenty of references too to the lustrous locks sported by Nesbitt, something which Cold Feet writers couldn't resist weaving into the script.

The actor, who admitted in 2013 that he'd had a hair transplant, was chosen to be the target for subtle gags over co-star John Thomson (Pete), who's also had some follicle rejuvenation.

Talking about the jokes about hair transplants in the script, Thomson told Digital Spy: 'It was either Jimmy or Mike's [Bullen - writer]. He was happy with it... It had to be addressed.'

And as the show was broadcast, plenty of fans took to Twitter to comment on the improved hairlines of some of the show's key actors.

‏@GaryPounder added:  'Yesssss cold feet! Hurray for the Nesbit hair gag straight away.'

Nesbitt's hair has gone from a salt and pepper 'do' to a darker look in recent years.

The actor never acknowledged his decision to have a hair transplant until 2013, having previously posed for pictures at Sundance in 2009 with the first signs of his treatment.

‘Several years ago, I began losing my hair and like a lot of men it was a major concern to me, in fact it was practically an obsession.'
