No mystery here: Murder She Wrote star Angela Lansbury kills rumours she's joining Game of Thrones
Angela Lansbury's reps on Wednesday shot down a widely-circulated report that the legendary British actress was set to make a cameo on HBO's popular series Game of Thrones.
The Murder She Wrote star's team told Entertainment Weekly that the report, which originated from the German tabloid Bild, was inaccurate, and that the 90-year-old legend of stage and screen would not be the latest in a string of cameos on the ultra-violent drama.
In a translation of Bild's original August 31 report, the publication claimed that a 'hot casting rumor' circulating around show business was that Lansbury was slated to guest star on two episodes, which would have required four days of filming.

All the pieces fit?: Online speculation pointed to the show's cast of acclaimed English stage vets, as well as the show's penchant for cameo roles
Beloved: Fans of the legendary actress initially rejoiced at the prospects of seeing her on the HBO show
Still going strong: The seasoned star, accompanied by director Michael Wilson, was cheered by patrons when she attended a stage show in Los Angeles in July
Many theorized that all the pieces fit into place, as the show has carved a niche for its cleverly-placed cameos - in particular, musicians, as various episodes have featured stars such as Coldplay's Will Champion, Snow Patrol's Gary Lightbody and Dr. Feelgood guitarist Wilko Johnson.
In addition, the show's cast is stocked with some of England's finest stage and screen performers, another designation that fits Lansbury to a tee.
Legions of fans of both the program and actress began to buzz, and Lansbury's name became a Facebook trending topic, with many outlets covering her rumored appearance on the show.
Crime stopper: Angela's Murder She Wrote aired on CBS from 1984 until 1996
The news also lit up the Twitter-sphere, as a few users of the social media site yukked it up injecting Lansbury's signature role of writer Jessica Fletcher, whose uncanny crime-solving skills led to her assisting investigators in solving murders.
'No wonder so many characters died, Jessica Fletcher was coming,' British historian Greg Jenner tweeted.
'Angela Lansbury joining Game of Thrones makes a ton of sense,' @terronk wrote, adding that 'the only place with a higher murder rate than [Game of Thrones'] Westeros is Cabot Cove,' the fictional Maine town where Lansbury's Fletcher character was based out of.
Buzz: Many tweeters saw a link between Angela's crime-solving Murder She Wrote role to the weekly carnage on Game of Thrones
Pop lore: Cabot Cove, the fictional Maine town where Murder She Wrote was set, was a community besieged by premature deaths - so much so that even fans of the show were skeptical of its growing body count
