Mathers, who was Playmate of the Year in 2015, was in the meeting with her lawyers, who are based in Santa Monica, for two hours before leaving.

It's not known what the group discussed, but with a possible six-month sentence on the cards, they have their work cut out for them.

Mathers' trouble began in July when she posted an image of an elderly woman in her gym's showers on Snapchat, along with one of her covering her mouth in laughter.

The images, taken in a Los Angeles gym, were captioned: 'If I can't unsee this then you can't either.'

The LAPD then announced that they were attempting to track down the elderly woman in the photograph in order to pursue a criminal complaint.

On Monday they said that the woman had been found, and that they are recommending prosecutors charge Mathers with dissemination of private images.

The specific law that may be used is a 'Peeping Tom statute' according to People.

According to California Penal Code 647(j)(1), it is a misdemeanor to view 'the interior of a changing room, fitting room, dressing room, or tanning booth, or the interior of any other area in which the occupant has a reasonable expectation of privacy, with the intent to invade the privacy of a person or persons inside.'

'California places a high value on privacy,' Troy Slaten, a partner and managing attorney of the criminal division at the California firm of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, told people.

He added that statutes such as this one are 'intended to target revenge porn.'

'It's about disseminating material when people had a reasonable expectation of privacy, which applies in this case,' he explained.

If tried and convicted she faces a maximum of six months in prison, although Slaten said that probation is more likely.

Mathers faced a wave of anger and outrage after the Snapchat post, and later tweeted: 'I'm sorry for what I did... I need to take some time to myself now to reflect on why I did this horrible thing.'

She also claimed in a video that she had intended to send the photo only to a friend, and didn't mean to make it publicly available on Snapchat.

After the posting she was banned from all LA Fitness facilities and dropped from a regular slot on 'The Heidi and Frank Show,' an LA radio show.
