She famously criticised the film in which she made her name, calling it 'sexist'.

But it looks like Knocked Up leading lady Katherine Heigl is finding real life pregnancy a lot less stressful than the film, smiling as she grabbed food on Thursday.

Dressed in a scoop-neck black jersey dress, and pristine white cotton shirt, the Washington born star looked happy and relaxed as she got out of her car.

The 37-year-old actress was enjoying some family time with her mother Nancy, with the two sharing lunch at Little Dom's in LA.

With her shoulder-length blonde hair pulled back from her face, minimal make-up revealed her natural glow.

A touch of blush and rose pink lipstick added a subtle pop of colour, with a large pair of brown sunglasses completing her fuss-free look.

Shunning heels in favour of a classic pair of brown leather flip flops, a beige crocodile skin bag worn across her body pulled together the casual look.

An unusual rose quartz pendant hung around her neck from a silver chain, and a silver bracelet were all she needed in the way of accessories.

Katherine has been married to singer Josh Kelley for nine years.

The baby - which is due in January - will be their first boy, and is also their first biological child; the couple are also adoptive parents to daughters Naleigh, seven, and Adalaide, four.

Despite her fantastic pregnancy figure, the former Grey's Anatomy star admitted recently she 'feels chubby'. 

'I feel great. I don’t feel pregnant, I just feel chubby and that’s hard as an actress in Hollywood,' she told News.com.au.

The American beauty added how she wants to snack all the time, 'You work so hard and so diligently to not feel that way and not to look that way, and now all I want to do is eat,' she said with a laugh. 

Heigl is currently filming for her upcoming CBS show Doubt, which follows a defense lawyer who falls for a client who could very well be guilty of a violent crime.

The show co-stars Laverne Cox, Steven Pasquale and Dule Hill, and is set to premiere later in the 2016-2017 season.
