Taylor Swift is holding her head high after ending her three month romance with Tom Hiddleston.

The newly-single singer, 26, appeared to have a spring in her step as she was pictured out in New York on Tuesday amid reports she didn't like Tom's 'love of the limelight'.

Looking sporty in patterned Under Armour leggings and a black tank top, Taylor smiled as she strutted across the sidewalk, seemingly in a great mood following her latest failed relationship.

News of the split came just a day after an insider exclusively told DailyMail.com that the pop star felt 'uncomfortable' with The Night Manager star's desire to be 'so public' about their romance.

Tom had asked Taylor to the Emmy Awards later this month, but she began questioning whether he was with her for 'the right reasons' and ultimately decided to call off the romance. 

While Taylor is already an Emmy winner, Tom received his first-ever nomination in July as the star of The Night Manager, and the show also received a second, individual nomination.

'Tom wants their relationship to be public, even asking Taylor to go to the Emmys with him, but Taylor wants to keep her private life private,' the source revealed on Monday.

The singer has never walked the red carpet with a boyfriend before.

'Tom's need for their relationship to be so public so quickly makes her uncomfortable,' the insider told DailyMail.com.

'She tried to be OK with it in the beginning but fears he is in love with the idea of her and not falling in love with her for the right reasons.'

The source added: 'Taylor is an independent young woman and doesn't feel like she needs a boyfriend to make her complete.' 

The Sun reported on Tuesday that while Taylor feels like she's had fun with Tom, she's now had enough.

A source told the newspaper that the Bad Blood hitmaker has no interest in being part of a 'power couple'. 

They said: 'Tom's a great guy but there's no room for him in her life. She doesn't want a serious relationship and that's where it was heading.'

It was apparently Tom's love of the limelight that freaked Taylor out but sources say once things have calmed down the duo will likely remain friends.

'Taylor is so focused on her career it's unreal. She is in control of her life, that's a fact.' the insider said.

'She is the driving force in what she does and where she goes and she certainly won't let a boyfriend interfere with that.'  

But sources from Tom's camp say that it was the other way around and that it was Taylor who loved the limelight.

'Tom has supported Taylor in everything she does, going along with her antics like splashing around in the sea with all her pals,' they revealed to The Sun.

The insider insisted that all Tom ever wanted was to make Taylor happy and that she 'always seemed to be.'

The actor is reportedly humiliated that Taylor won't accompany him to the Emmys as he thought he'd done his duty as a boyfriend - so it was only fair she would do the same back. 

Hours after DailyMail.com's story was published, Us Weekly revealed that the couple had called it quits.  

A source explained: 'Tom wanted the relationship to be more public than she was comfortable with. Taylor knew the backlash that comes with public displays of affection but Tom didn't listen to her concerns when she brought them up.'  

The website reports that Tom is 'embarrassed the relationship has fizzled out' 

Tom and Taylor, while inseparable in the early days of their romance, have not been photographed together since late July.

While the Shake It Off hit-maker is in New York, the British actor has recently been reprising his role as Loki to film Thor: Ragnarok in Australia with Chris Hemsworth.

The couple got together shortly after Taylor's split from Calvin Harris, and during the first few weeks of their romance they travelled around the world together. 

They even took the huge step of meeting one another's parents, with Taylor jetting to the UK to spend time with Tom's mother in Suffolk, while he went to her adopted home town of Nashville.

Taylor and Tom also spent time in Italy, Australia and across the US - memorbaly spending July 4 with friends in Rhode Island.
