'I might think differently if it looked good': Supermodel Christy Turlington, 47, vows never to get plastic surgery or Botox because it 'looks freaky'

  • The fashion icon told Town & Country that she won't consider getting a cosmetic procedure because she doesn't think they look good
  • Christy also discussed the fact that she thinks eating disorders are the result of a lack of power and control, or something happening in the family
  • She hit out at suggestions that magazines are to blame for the issues
  • The supermodel shows off her ageless beauty on the cover of the magazine's 170th anniversary issue

Supermodel Christy Turlington has insisted she won't get Botox or plastic surgery - because it 'looks freaky'.

Posing for the cover of Town & Country, the 47-year-old supermodel, who is famed for her ageless beauty, admitted that the fear of cosmetic procedures 'hurting' has also served as a deterrent - although she noted that she might feel differently about plastic surgery 'if it looked good' and was also pain-free.

'Maybe I would think differently if I thought it looked good and it didn’t hurt and it didn’t send bad messages to young people,' she said.

Ruffle up for fall in a Ralph Lauren dress like Christy

Christy Turlington is the cover girl for Town and Country. The ageless beauty looks like a Jane Austen character in her Ralph Lauren dress.

White is great for the summer months as it sets off a sunkissed glow but as the days get shorter, mixing it with velvet adds a plush luxe vibe that's perfect for fall and winter.

The dress has a dramatic floor length with nipped waist so it's ideal for holidays. We love the pleated frill detail at the neckline and sleeve which adds a venerable Victorian vibe.

It's by Ralph Lauren, the kind of classic American sportwear, and fortunately for us it available for pre-sale now. Just click to the right. If you can't wait or 5k is too outrageous for you, recreate her regal look by shopping our edit below. This BCBG bargain will do the trick!

'But I’ve never seen someone who I’ve been like, "Oh, that’s a good idea." It looks freaky to me.'

In fact, the former face of Calvin Klein told the magazine that she has never worried about aging, saying that 'being who you are, being your best self, has nothing to do with what you look like.'

Elsewhere in the interview, Christy revealed that she doesn't believe that magazines and fashion models are the root of eating disorders in young women and men.

The 47-year-old supermodel is the cover star for the 170th anniversary issue of Town & Country, and discussed her views of the fashion industry in the feature for the magazine.

'I don’t think people get eating disorders by looking at magazines,' she said. 'I think there’s a much deeper set of issues around a lack of power and control, or something happening in the family.'

She added that, as a model and the mother of a 12-year-old girl, she would never 'blame a magazine or fashion company for that'.

'People have to get over the idea that realism is being projected here,' she said.

The star is gracing the cover of the magazine's October issue and shows off her ageless beauty in the series of striking images taken by photographer Max Vadukul.

On the cover shot, the mother-of-two looks stunning in a Ralph Lauren ruffled dress and Cartier earrings standing next to a white horse.
