Manchester United 1-2 Manchester City: Kevin De Bruyne and Kelechi Iheanacho give Pep

MANCHESTER UNITED 1-2 MANCHESTER CITY - ROB DRAPER AT OLD TRAFFORD: Pep Guardiola claimed local bragging rights over arch rival Jose Mourinho after his Manchester City side upset United 2-1 in the first ever Premier League clash between the pair. Influential City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne opened the scoring and provided an assist for Kelechi Iheanacho when his shot rebounded off the post but a costly spill from debut keeper Claudio Bravo led to Zlatan Ibrahimovic pulling a goal back before the interval. Bravo was fortunate to escape punishment for a rash tackle on Rooney, United substitute Marcus Rashford had a goal disallowed for offside and De Bruyne hit the post for a second time before the so-called 'noisy neighbours' held out for victory.

The run-up to the match featured a flood of stories zooming in on the differing philosophies between the two managers... but who had the better outing on Saturday?

OLIVER HOLT: After the phoney war of the opening three games, this was Guardiola's proper English baptism. What his team gave us in the first half justified all the hype about the Manchester City boss.

'It was a penalty and a red card for (Claudio) Bravo. For sure outside the box it is a free-kick and a red card. Inside the box it has to be the same, but obviously even the best referees make mistakes.'

Arsenal 2-1 Southampton: Santi Cazorla nets last minute penalty to rescue three points

ARSENAL 2-1 SOUTHAMPTON - JACK GAUGHAN AT THE EMIRATES: Everything is a drama at Arsenal. Edge of the seat stuff, nervous tension, barracking of players, referees, the manager. It cannot be a comfortable experience for supporters. Their blood pressure goes through the roof, hands on heads as passes go astray in the final third and chances go begging. But so often they bail themselves out late, late in the game. On Saturday it was the Olivier Giroud and Santi Cazorla show, the former winning a penalty as Jose Fonte tugged him inside the box and the latter stroking beyond Fraser Forster in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

CELTIC 5-1 RANGERS - FRASER MACKIE AT CELTIC PARK: It takes time for a new striker to settle at Celtic apparently. Then Moussa Dembele comes along with a hat-trick.

WEST HAM 2-4 WATFORD - ADAM CRAFTON AT THE LONDON STADIUM: Watford showed a never-say-die attitude to come back from two goals down to beat Slaven Bilic's side.

Liverpool's new £115million main stand has been officially opened and will be enjoyed by fans for the first time on Saturday, when Jurgen Klopp's men face Premier League champions Leicester. The 20,500-seater stand, which took 1.8m bricks and blocks, 5,000 tonnes of steel and 614 days to build, has caused change throughout Anfield. A new tunnel has been constructed at the players' entrance while the famous Shankly Gates have been moved to the corner of the Centenary and Anfield Road stands.

Brendan Rodgers believes Celtic are bigger than 'most Premier League clubs' ahead of his

There was a question about his relationship with the owner. The Foxes have added six new signings to the squad that cruised to the title last season and Ranieri insisted this meant places would not be guaranteed even for the side's biggest stars.

Antonio Conte watches Chelsea's next generation as the young Blues beat Tottenham 3-1 in

The Chelsea youngsters would have been keen to impress first team boss Antonio Conte, who watched the game from the stands, alongside club ambassador Carlo Cudicini. Conte, dressed in a jacket and jeans and wearing a pair of blue-rimmed glasses, was also joined by wife Elisabetta Muscarello for the game and was pictured passing a phone to Cudicini with a broad grin on his face.

JAMIE CARRAGHER: All week I've taken others' criticism of Wayne Rooney on board, listening to the constant chipping away at what he apparently cannot do and why he is no longer good enough.

Tony Pulis has revealed that deadline day addition Hal Robson-Kanu was not one of his main targets. He joined as a free agent but the signing shed light on tensions between Pulis and the club.

The 24-year-old rejoined his team-mates in training at Joan Gamper at the end of the week, and was pictured laughing and joking in the Spanish sun.

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has announces 'I will play' against Osasuna

The 31-year-old forward sustained a knee injury in the European Championship final in July and has not played any football since. The Portuguese has been active on social media over the last week with updates on his intensified training regime and is now confident of taking some part in the game against Osasuna on Saturday. Earlier this week he told Real fans to 'enjoy the picture', as he trained with his team-mates for the first time since suffering the injury.

It will not have been the start to the season that Arsenal had hoped for, but Arsene Wenger is backing his 'team of men' to get back on track. The Gunners face Southampton on Saturday looking to propel themselves back towards the top four of the Premier League after just one win in three. Arsenal lost their opener against Liverpool in a thrilling 4-3 at the Emirates, before securing a 0-0 draw with champions Leicester.

Arsenal ace Alex Iwobi teaches Granit Xhaka and Rob Holding the meaning of 'mad ting'!

It can sometimes be tough for summer signings to quickly settle into their surroundings, but Alex Iwobi has given two of Arsenal's new arrivals a helping hand.  The 20-year-old forward grew up in London, and has used his expertise to teach Granit Xhaka and Rob Holding some typical street phrases. Including such gems as 'That spice is a mad ting' and 'Those crepes are dead', the lesson makes for a hilarious YouTube video.
