Helena Bonham Carter shows her support for domestic violence as she proudly takes part in Refuge charity event Walk4

She is known for her eccentric sense of style just as much as she is her acting ability.

But Helena Bonham Carter cast her quirky ensembles aside on Sunday in favour of a Refuge Walk4 T-shirt - as she joined a charity march to support domestic violence.

The British actress stood shoulder to shoulder with many other domestic violence survivors as she embarked on the Walk4 event in London, to raise both awareness and money for the charity Refuge.

Proudly sporting her logo T-shirt, Helena prepared to begin the challenge alongside hundreds of other supporters at St. John's Churchyard, next to Tower Bridge.

The BAFTA winner kept comfy for the walk in red and beige striped cropped trousers - opting against fitness wear to retain her unconventional style.

She added a casual hoody and prepared for the long distance journey in a pair of chunky black walking boots.

Lastly dressing her face with retro rounded sunglasses, the philanthropic King's Speech actress looked ready and raring to go as she set to embark on her good deed.

Helena as a high-profile participant chatted to the charity's chief executive and a family victimised by the traumatic act before the event kicked off.

She also posed for photos beside the charity's line of reasons, upon which participants pen down their decision for walking and supporting the event.

The walk crosses four iconic bridges of London and covers 10km, to highlight the statistic that 1 in 4 women will experience domestic violence at some point in their lives.

Despite not having suffered domestic violence herself, the actress still remained incredibly understanding of the course as a mother of her own two children - Billy, 12 and Nell, 8, born with ex-husband Tim Burton.

Helena has been single since since splitting from Tim, her partner of 13 years, in December 2014.

The pair famously didn't marry during their relationship and unconventionally lived in two adjoining houses in London.

Speaking to Harper's Bazaar magazine earlier this year, she admitted wanted to put 'handle with care' tape across her forehead because she felt so fragile and described the process as going through 'massive grief'.

But Helena will be kept busy with her work in Ocean's Eight, the all-female spinoff of the Ocean's Eleven crime caper franchise.

Whilst production on the film has not yet started, Helena joins a stellar line-up that includes Cate Blanchett, Sandra Bullock, Anne Hathaway and Rihanna.

The film will focus on the plans of a female crime ring planning to met the iconic Met Ball, but a release date has yet to be announced.
