Reddit: The Official App

Description

Funny cat photos, trending news stories, and the best discussions on the internet—these are just a few of the awesome things the official Reddit app does best.

On Reddit, there’s a community for every subject imaginable: your favorite sports team, relationship advice, memes, the latest in news and politics—all in real time.

And if you like gifs (or jifs, jiffys, glyphs, ifs, however you choose to mispronounce it), we’re positive you'll love it.

What’s that you say, girl? “What about a community dedicated solely to images of cats standing on their hind legs?”

We got that, too.

Whether you’re into movies or space travel, baking or weight training, cheesy dad jokes, world news or Hollywood gossip—or all of the above—you can instantly share your content and ideas with an audience of millions.

We’re not saying Reddit is like all your favorite apps put together. But if we were saying that, we’d tell you it has:

• the trendy headlines of Twitter
• the educational content of Quora
• the viral pics of Memebase and Imgur
• the jokesters of Tumblr
• the lols of 9GAG and theCHIVE
• the cringeworthy personal stories of FML and Fail Blog
• the rage comics of fourchan
• and the powerful, human stories found only on Reddit.

(Oops, we went full circle.)

So the next time you’re bored and need a break—wait, you’re bored right now? Why are you still reading this? Download the app already!

Those cats won’t stand on their hind legs forever...

Great but one thing is really irritating

This app is overall really good. The only problem is when, when I'm scrolling down on my feed whether it be r/all, r/front, or whatever, I swipe up with my phone. Sometimes, I will slightly swipe up and to the right of my screen and it will swipe me back to the screen where you choose which subreddit or feed to select. That's fine, but if I try to go back to the same feed, it will not go back to the place I was at in the feed. Sometimes I will be hundreds of post down on the feed and this will occur and I am forced to the top of the feed and have to restart. This needs to be fixed it is a very annoy reoccurring issue. Other than that no complaints

Overall a better Reddit experience

I really like the UI and design of this app. It makes browsing content and subreddits much easier than previous apps. I actually like to see them make an iPad version of this app. In addition, apply some of this design and layout to the web version. The problem with the website, and other app versions, is that there is too much information trying to compete with screen space. I just want something simple that lets me browse subreddits, upvote/save content and view comments. Something simple and minimalistic like this app.

Another Alien Blue expatiate coming 'round

Like many I was dismayed initially with this app, after using Alien Blue for years. It did not take long to come around to this, the official app, however. Gone are Alien Blue's difficult diagonal controls and inefficient pull-to-preview gimmick. The official app is fast (albeit a little crashy) and has the look and feel of a modern app. I'm confident this honeymoon period will end when Conde Nast starts to push monetization, but for now the app works well enough and looks good doing so.

Edit: less crashy now
