Best time ever! Simon Cowell's mini-me son Eric, 2, can't contain his giggles during fun outing with mum Lauren Silverman in LA

His music mogul father recently admitted he already has an eye for talent.

Although he has made numerous appearances on the X Factor, little Eric Cowell, two, was world's away from hunting for the next big star alongside his dad Simon as he had a wealth of fun with his mum Lauren Silverman in LA on Thursday.

Walking down the street in the California sunshine on the last days of summer, the tot was adorable in a pair of cut-off denim shorts, simple white tee and mini converse.

Revisit the Seventies in flared jeans by Stella McCartney

If you're starting to tire of skinny jeans, then the retro trend has arrived at just the right time for you.

This season is all about looking back to the Seventies with suede skirts, Boho blouses and platform heels. But one of the most iconic looks of the era has got to be the denim flares!

Take a look at Lauren Silverman, who got it spot on in a boho printed blouse, peep toe wedges and these blue jeans for her family day out in New York. Her denim flares are by Stella McCartney, and we love the mid blue wash and flattering fit.

Click the link (right) to buy them now at Shopbop. They're an easy way to make your legs look longer (as if Lauren needed any help in that department!), so what's not to love?

Or check out the other flares in our edit below.

Treated to ice cream on his day out, the sweet youngster playfully swung from his mum and a friend's arm.

Channelling a 70s look, mum Lauren, 39, slipped into a pair of form-fitting light-wash denim flares that hugged her honed pins to perfection as she strolled down the street with her little tot.

Adding to her folk inspired ensemble, the American beauty teamed her on-trend jeans with a blue partially sheer blouse - which she stylishly layered over a nude vest.

The stunner's eye-catching shirt complemented her denims as it boasted a three-quarter length sleeve that flared out to add to the floral motif.

Entertaining her youngster on the pavement, Lauren injected some height into her slender frame with a warm beige mule as she casually draped her chic cross-body bag over her shoulder.

Adding a touch of sparkle to her ensemble, Lauren opted to place a simple diamond stud in each ear as she decorated her wrists with a statement gold watch and simple bracelet.

Lauren shielded her eyes from the burning Californian sun with a pair of retro inspired sunnies which rested upon her impressive high cheekbones.

'He's brilliant,' Cowell said. 'He's very good to watch funnily enough, because I can see when he's bored and when he's up dancing. He's a good critic already. He's unpaid but he's helping me!'

He added that having children had made him a 'softer' judge, as it had changed the way he views young people on talent shows.

'There's no question when you actually have a kid, it does make you feel different because you understand how you would feel if it was your son up there,' he said.
