Justin Timberlake harkens back to boy band days with clean-cut look as retro lifeguard on Woody Allen movie set

He rose to fame as the clean-cut Mouseketeer turned boybander in the Nineties.

And as he was spotted on set on Friday in New York City sporting vintage garb for his role as a Fifties lifeguard, Justin Timberlake stirred up memories of his boy band days.

The 35-year-old showed off a wholesome look with stylishly slicked back hair as he sported an old-fashioned swimsuit.

Justin wore a fitted, black sleeveless top with a wide, mint green stripe across the center that showed off the star's toned arms.

The suit fell to a pair of snug shorts that featured the same mint green stripe down either side.

It was accessorized with a wide, tan belt with a large, silver buckle,  as well as a whistle worn around Justin's neck.

Justin could be seen pulling a smoldering pose - not unlike something that could be seen in a teen magazine pinup - while sitting on a lifeguard stand.

And the star's vintage look was not the only throwback to his boy band days, as he recently revealed that he would be happy to collaborate with ex Britney Spears.

After hearing that Britney had listed his name as a dream collaborator, the star - who is currently married to actress Jessica Biel, with whom he shares son Silas - told E! News: 'She did? Sure! Absolutely, absolutely.'

The pair had dated from 1999 to 2002, with Justin later penning breakup ballad Cry Me A River following their split.

He surveyed the beach with binoculars from said stand, while on the New York City set of Woody Allen's upcoming, as yet untitled, film.

The Social Network star was also spotted pointing a seemingly scolding finger at someone off-screen as he filmed.

Justin was later spotted while on a break from shooting, snapping a photo on his phone.

During his downtime Justin covered up with a large pair of grey athletic shorts with a navy blue stripe down the side.

The scenes were being filmed for Woody's upcoming 48th feature, which is a drama set in New York City in the late 1950s.

Not much is known about the film as of yet, but it is set to also star Kate Winslet, Juno Temple, and Jim Belushi.

In addition to Woody's upcoming film, Justin also voiced a character for animated film Trolls, which hits theaters on November 4.
