The 30-year-old's brief Instagram video begins with the words 'LADY GAGA' and then 'PERFECT ILLUSION' flashing on the screen.

At once, the camera begins to pan across an exhilarated concert audience, who leap and pump their fists to the single's opening strains, the sun setting behind them.

The next shot reveals the pop icon herself, who's tucked a black T-shirt into a pair of frayed-hem shorts cut so high they nearly bare a bit of her behind.

Her platinum hair gathered into a ponytail, she swings a microphone over her head and gyrates her hips as the camera draws closer and closer to her pelvic region.

According to SHOWStudio, where Gelardin serves as Creative Director, Lobster Eye are in charge of the 'cycle and campaign' for Joanne.

The song was produced by the eminent Lady herself, as well as by Kevin Parker of Tame Impala, Uptown Funk Grammy-winner Mark Ronson and BloodPop.

On Thursday, the Bad Romance singer lit up Instagram with what she'd said on Beats 1 was the album cover from Joanne.

In the picture, the singer appears in profile, seemingly topless, against a pale blue background. Her hair falls from a wide-brimmed pink hat with a white band, covering her bust. The only other thing she's wearing is a pair of gold hoop earrings.

Her caption blared: 'LADY GAGA / JOANNE,' and in the next line: 'NEW ALBUM.' The following line trumpeted: 'OCTOBER 21.'

The title refers to Joanne Germanotta, the Applause singer's paternal aunt, who died in 1974. GaGa herself's full Christian name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta.

The information fans have been waiting for: On Beats 1 that day, she'd revealed the record will be out 21 October and is named Joanne after the singer's paternal aunt, who died of lupus at 19

She'd divulged the title and date hours earlier to Zane Lowe on Beats 1, saying she was still putting the final touches on the record. 'Actually, it's going to be done in the next 48 hours.'

The New York City native elaborated on her album's namesake, 'my father's sister, who died when she was 19. He was younger than her, and she was very sick with lupus, and the death of her in our - in his family and in his life, it really left a scar and a wound that never healed.'

The pop star explained that 'as I returned to kind of my home life, and spending time with my friends, and hanging out with my family, and getting out of the sort of mainstream limelight for a minute, what I realised is, it's - you know, the experience of our families and our challenges and our toughness that make us who we are.'

In the case of her own family, she said: 'It's all the toughness and the pain that happened as a result of losing her that made us all strong and made us all who we are.'

Calling her aunt 'the woman of my past that is becoming and helping me bring more of my, you know, honest woman's self into the future,' she disclosed that the album will have 11 tracks, with three more included on the 'deluxe' edition.

Almost immediately, though, she backtracked. 'Don't quote me. Please don't quote me on that. You can quote me on everything else,' she said with a laugh. A chuckling Lowe reassured her: 'You're finishing the record. You're allowed to be indecisive.'

On Monday, the American Horror Story actress dispelled rumours that the song, which concerns a romance that turned out to be delusive, was about Taylor Kinney.

The pair had dated for five years and become engaged in 2015 before breaking up this July. GaGa appeared on Andy Cohen Live and insisted: 'I love Taylor so, so much and this song is not a hit out against Taylor. He’s my best friend.'

The man that got away: The American Horror Story actress had dated the Zero Dark Thirty actor since 2011, and the two became engaged last year before splitting this July
