'Help will be substantially rewarded': Former Coronation Street star Chris Fountain makes public appeal on Twitter after his £40k car is stolen

In 2013 he was fired by Coronation Street after he posted a video rapping about violence.

And despite turning over a new leaf, it appears Chris Fountain's luck hasn't improved after his £40,000 Audi A7 car was stolen.

The 29-year-old actor took to Twitter to share the news in the hope his vehicle would be found.

The car, which can cost in the region of £46,000 if new, was stolen from his hometown of Manchester.

'My silver Audi A7 (MJ11 MUA) was stolen this morning from Cheadle, Manchester, any info leading to its return will be substantially rewarded', the actor wrote.

Later he added: 'If everyone could retweet my last tweet i'd really appreciate it x'.

Chris, who played Justin Burton for six years in Hollyoaks before moving on to portray Corrie heartthrob Tommy Duckworth for two years, was sacked from the soap in disgrace in 2013 after he was revealed as a masked internet rapper who appeared to condone lyrics of rap and violence towards women.

Last month he appeared on This Morning to express his regret over the video and share its career crippling consequences.

He said: 'Stupidly, when I was quite a bit younger, I got involved with a group of people who I didn’t know them very well, and I ended up trying to impress them.'

And, clearly still haunted by the decisions he made three years ago, Chris admitted: 'I ask myself why I did it every day.'

'It kills me really,' replied the actor. 'The stuff that went online doesn’t reflect my feelings towards women... It was just a crazy moment.'

He elaborated on the thought, adding: 'It wasn’t something that I’d premeditated and thought about.'

Explaining the more personal fallout from the incident, he said: 'I haven't worked for three years.

'I’d constantly worked since I was 15, and then this happened and it put my family through hell. I let a lot of people down in including myself.'

However after three years in the wilderness, he is about to return to acting in the touring production of The Full Monty.
