In an astonishing security lapse, Bashar Habib (left), 18, walked unchallenged through a series of checks at Athens airport before claiming asylum on arrival at Stansted. He said he had been given the passport less than 24 hours earlier by No Borders, whose members include British anarchists accused of stirring trouble among migrants in refugee camps across Europe. He boarded the plane at Athens International Airport unchallenged, despite differing markedly in appearance from the owner of the passport, Austrian Marius Brem (top right and bottom right), who has longer hair, different coloured eyes and is seven years older.

The building work, involving masses of unsightly scaffolding, has been made to 'disappear' by covering it with a life-size image of the castle walls so realistic that it is almost impossible to spot where the fake stops and the actual castle resumes. The covering, on the walls and battlements of the North Terrace, was created by taking photographs of the area before the work started and printing a carefully scaled composite image on to a huge, durable plastic sheet, which was then stretched in front of the scaffolding.

Jaxon Lal, from Droylsden, Greater Manchester, is due to meet with academy coaches after a scout for the club spotted his mother Joanne Radcliffe's post on Facebook. The dramatic video shows the officer (pictured) outside the car asking the man, believed to have been driving in London, to open the door. He refuses and so the constable tries to force the side window open three times with his hands. This fails so he begins hitting the windscreen (insert) with his truncheon. The driver, who captured the action on his mobile, pleads with the officer and tells him he 'has a licence and insurance'. The officer shouts at the man: 'You're not allowed to drive it' and tells him to 'get out of the car'.

In an exclusive interview with The Mail on Sunday, Pauline Cafferkey, 40, reveals that health watchdog Public Health England struggled to cope with large numbers of returning medics, and did not have enough screening kits. She also said doctors and nurses were told to take each other's temperatures, in breach of PHE's own rules. Miss Cafferkey has returned to her job as a public health nurse in Blantyre, Lanarkshire, but has to take drugs daily to keep epileptic seizures, spinal swelling, nerve pain and body aches at bay.

Isle of Man TT star and adrenaline junkie Guy Martin is in Utah attempting to set a new two-wheeled world land speed record and beat the current 376.36mph - but it got off to a bad start when his bike toppled over. The 34-year-old from Grimsby has already faced setbacks after the event on his Triumph Infor Rocket Streamliner was postponed following safety concerns on Thursday. With 1,000 brake horsepower, the 25.5ft-long vehicle is capable of reaching speeds of around 400mph - the fastest ever built by Triumph.

Shadow Home Secretary Andy Burnham is calling for an independent review of an inquest's ruling that Zane Gbangbola (left), seven, died due to a carbon monoxide leak at his Surrey home in 2014. The coroner ruled that a petrol pump used to clear floodwater from the house had released toxic fumes, despite firefighters finding traces of deadly cyanide gas in the contaminated water. His parents Nicole and Kye Gbangbola (right, with Andy Burnham) called the decision a 'miscarriage of justice' and say they feel they have been blamed for their son's death.

A giant peach was rolled through the streets of Cardiff today (main picture) as a tribute to children's author Roald Dahl who was born in the city 100 years ago. The Welsh capital was transformed into the weird and wonderful world of the beloved storyteller to celebrate the centenary. Thousands of fans, young and old, descended on the City Of The Unexpected and cheered with delight as they watched the enormous fruit model, which was at least 30ft high, passing through the packed streets (top right). The bright peach, which featured in Dahl's classic children's book James And The Giant Peach, rested on top of a car and was supported by ropes as it travelled through the streets. When the procession reached Cardiff Castle, the peach was sliced open (bottom right) to reveal James. He was then airlifted to safety by a firefighter.
