Dancing on air! Jerry Seinfeld beams beside his dazzling-in-Dior wife Jessica... as he makes his first Emmys appearance in 19 years

Jerry Seinfeld was clearly over the moon to be at the 2016 Emmys on Sunday for a very special reason.

The 62-year-old comedian made his first trek to the star-studded show in 19 years with his equally thrilled wife Jessica Seinfeld.

Jerry, whose Netflix streaming show Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee was nominated for best variety talk show, was beaming smiles and cracking jokes.

What an entrance: Jerry Seinfeld was beaming big smiles alongside his lovely wife Jessica as he arrived to the Emmys - his first appearance at the TV awards show in 19 years

The humour was not lost on Jerry, who kidded that the last time he was at the Emmys was in 1997.

'I don't know why I'm here. I'm not on television. My show is on the Internet!' he lamented to E! News host Giuliana Rancic.

'I haven't been to the Emmys since '97,' he added. 'So what is that, 19 years? Yeah, 19 years!'

While Jerry looked dapper in a black tux, white dress shirt and black bow tie, Jessica dazzled in a Dior gown.

'I'm not on TV!' The 62-year-old funny man was obviously happy his Netflix streaming show Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee was nominated for best variety talk show

The 45-year-old cookbook author exuded grace in her white number that featured a busily embellished bodice with a pleated tulle skirt.

The frothy skirt topped at around the ankles in perfect tea length form above buff-hued pumps, and for added excitement Jessica clutched a feathery handbag.

Jessica's golden blonde hair was pulled back into an elegant ponytail that showed off her glittery drop earrings.

Casting his spell: Jerry seemed to enjoy being in the Emmys limelight

Jerry has been Emmy nominated a total of 13 times now - and won the prestitious award in 1993 for Seinfeld as a co-producer.

His streaming series has been Emmy-nominated twice before, but this is the first time it's been entered outside of the short-form categories.

Asked whether he watches re-runs of his funny show Seinfeld, he replied in the negative.

'You ever pull our your high school yearbook and go, "Let me relive those four years! That was great?"' he joked. 'Never. Once you do something, you do it.'

Jerry then added, 'Sometimes I'll watch, like, 20 seconds.'
