Bethenny Frankel looks carefree while on mommy duty after revealing divorce from Jason Hoppy was 'worst situation of my life'

She's celebrating the end of a bitter and very long divorce. 

And Bethenny Frankel had a very passionate message for women out there when she appeared on The Wendy Williams Show on Wednesday.

The 45-year-old espoused the importance of being financially independent to avoid finding themselves in a situation like the one she had with her ex-husband Jason Hoppy, which she called 'the worst situation of my entire life.'

That same day the star looked carefree as she walked in New York City and took her daughter Bryn to an ice cream truck.

'The worst situation of my entire life': Bethenny Frankel had an important message for women during her appearance on The Wendy Williams Show; she stepped out in New York on Wednesday looking effortlessly chic in skinny jeans and tan heels

'The message is you better work,' she told Wendy. 'You have to be a woman who depends upon yourself, has your own money so if you have to get yourself out of a situation, you can get yourself out, and I had a hard time getting out of the worst situation of my entire life.'

Bethenny owns a multi-million dollar apartment in New York City, and the reality star temporarily lived with her ex in the apartment even when they were estranged.

While declining to get into details of their time living together as exes, she said, 'The bottom line is don't get yourself into this situation. That is about being independent, you've got to be careful.' 

'It was the worst situation of my life that I'm turning into the best situation that other women will not go through,' she added.

Smile! The reality star was in top spirits as she waved and grinned brightly 

City style: Frankel topped her super stylish look off with a long white sweater and a black top tucked into her jeans 

Bethenny gave birth to her and Jason's now six-year-old daughter Bryn in 2010.

On Thursday, the mother and daughter were spotted out in New York City, stopping for some cool treats at an ice cream truck. 

Frankel wore the same outfit she had earlier in the day, minus the long white sweater, and kept a grip on Bryn's hand. Bryn, in turn, held hands with a friend who walked along beside her.

Despite enjoying herself with her daughter, however, Frankel told Williams she's not sure if she would ever have another child.

'I'm an old bag, I don't know! It's around the last leg of the tour, I've got one more lap around the track. I mean, maybe - the night is young,' she said. 

Wendy asked if it was true that she no longer talks to Hoppy, whom she wed in 2010.

The reality star explained she felt it was better for a child to hear nothing rather then an argument.

'It's gotta be a glass half full situation. For me, I think the good news is, there are many people I know whose parents are together, and they hear fighting, and they hear negativity, and they feel the energy.

'By people not speaking, at least your child is removed from a situation. It's the best that it could possibly be!'

The reality star also revealed she no longer was in possession of her wedding ring. 

'I just don't have it,' she replied with a coy smile when asked what she did with it.  

The actress, who is dating Dennis Shields, was asked if she would ever marry again.

Bethenny insisted she was beyond looking for the typical 'happily ever after.' 

Not exactly home sweet home? For a period of time, Bethenny lived with her estranged husband inside her multi-million dollar New York home

'It's not Jerry Maguire, no one completes me, I complete myself. This isn't like I'm jumping from one thing to another, it's not that. 

'It's, I'm independent, I'm happy. If I want to be with someone, that's additive, but I don't need to get married. If I want to, I will, I don't need anything, I'm just happy that I have homes for my daughter, that I can support myself, my health, I have balance, I have love, I have friends, I have a good career. 

'I'm not looking to that, because that's what got me in that place to begin with. You want the whole package, and you kind of go on the ride, and I'm not feeling that, I feel just grounded and settled.' 

Bethenny's divorce from Jason was finalized in July, almost four years after she filed in January 2013.

The couple wed in 2010, and their marriage aired on the reality show, Bethenny Getting Married?
