Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck appeared to be squabbling over something serious a few days ago.

The exes appeared to be back on friendlier ground as they emerged for a family breakfast with youngest son Samuel on Thursday.

Jennifer seemed happy and relaxed while holding her toddler's hand and Ben even managed to crack a calm smile too following the casual meal in Los Angeles' Brentwood area.

The Dallas Buyers Club star was on trend in a black short skirt and patterned top, both of which fit her athletic figure loosely.

Her legs were well toned thanks to daily workouts, and brown strapped sandals finished off her ensemble.

Ben showed his buff edge in a grey T-shirt that outlined his muscular physique, along with khaki trousers and white trainers.

Ben sported some facial fuzz suggesting his face hadn't felt a razor in a couple days while strolling alongside Jennifer and carrying a very large coffee.

The couple split in June 2015 but they have yet to finalize their divorce, and live at the same Pacific Palisades, California, property as they co-parent.

On Tuesday, Jennifer and Ben appeared to be having a tense conversation in his car.

The Miracles From Heaven star seemed strained as she sat in the passenger seat with Ben.

It is not clear if they were just having a serious conversation or if they were involved in an argument while sitting in the Ford SUV.
