Jennifer Garner has given a rare glimpse into her family life with husband Ben Affleck.

In an insightful new interview with InStyle, the 42-year-old actress reveals how she and Ben still make family and personal time for each other despite his busy schedule.

'You can't expect to be courted all the time, and I don't want to court him right now - I don't have the energy!' the actress reveals.

'But we're definitely in a very mindful place where we're making an effort to be together, do things at the same time, and be loving,'

The 13 Going On 30 actress reveals that she is currently taking charge of family life, looking after children Violet, 8 Seraphina, 5, and Samuel, 2.

'Right now he's acting in Batman, this huge movie that will shoot for six or seven months,' she reveals.

'When Ben is directing, he works around the clock. He's always preoccupied. So before he directs something, we have to ask, "Are we up for this?"'

'At night, after I put the kids to bed, I'll sit with him at the monitor. And sometimes you have to say, "This is all good, but I need a date."

Jennifer also admits that Ben is 'in charge of laughter' when it comes to parenting, while she is left with all the organizing.

'I know who wants what lunch, and I've done all the school paperwork and filled out the emergency cards. Ben doesn't even know that stuff exists. He is in charge of laughter'.

However, Ben's time away filming Batman does it have its advantages, as Jennifer recently revealed her husband is looking 'buff' after his countless trips to the gym to shape up for his role as Batman in upcoming blockbuster, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

She told Extra TV: 'Big Ben is definitely looking buff… I think he's eight or seven percent body fat and all muscle.'

'I can’t keep up with him, clearly. He could bench me, but yeah, we work out at the same time. I do my little mini workout.'
