We dare YOU not to stare! As the holographic manicure trend rages on, videos of iridescent nail polish being made are mesmerizing the Internet

  • Videos of glitter nail polish being mixed are gaining thousands of views on social media
  • Watch the dreamiest nail polish mixing videos from Twitter and Instagram

Holographic nail polish is having a major moment and each time we see a new manicure on Instagram or YouTube, we can't help but 'ooh' and 'ahh' at the shiny goodness. What's perhaps even more spellbinding? Watching these shimmery polishes being made.

Nail-polish mixing videos are becoming an Internet obsession and trust us , you won't be able to look away.

These short videos, which have been posted recently by a handful of indie nail polish brands, capture a base lacquer being blended together with dreamy glitter particles or a metallic hue.

As the mixture swirls together, the colors shift and twinkle, providing serious eye candy.

You'll find this type of content on the Instagram feed of F.U.N Lacquer, a Singapore-based brand. It's worth noting that the brand is a favorite of YouTube vlogger Cristine Rotenberg of Simply Nailogical, who coined the term "holosexual", meaning someone who is obsessed with and entranced by holographic things - namely, nail polish.

In a post where the shade Let the Sea Set You Free is churned about, comments include, 'I wish this never ends' and 'this is a blessing for my eyes'. The video has more than 11,000 views.

In a similar post on Twitter account @ArtMixing that offers a close-up action shot of an iridescent purple lacquer, several commenters refer to the video as porn.

In addition to providing you with something pretty to look at, you might find that watching one of these videos also makes you feel calm and satisfied.

As allure.com points out, this type of mundane content can elicit an ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response) experience, which is a term used to describe a relaxed mental state.

That explains why on a recent Instagram post by brand Polish Me Royalty that features a silver glitter nail polish being whisked by a popsicle stick (it's been viewed a whopping 140,000 times), you'll find comments like, 'I just sat and watched her stir it for five minutes'. Same, @k8ln922, same.
