Returning to Germany will have brought back happy memories for Bolt, who shattered both the 100m and 200m world records during the 2009 World Championships held in Berlin.

The sprinter, who has retired from Olympic competition following the Games, is expected to take on an ambassadorial role in athletics and has also signed a lifetime contract with Nike thought to be worth an estimated $30m a year.

His partying antics come after James Corden, host of the Late Late Show, invited the nine-time Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt to compete against him in a 100-metre race.

The sporting action took place in the CBS Television City car park where the show is filmed, and saw the rest of the crew also joining in.

James joked on Twitter: 'I just destroyed @usainbolt in a 100 meter sprint. He didn't stand a chance'.

To which the sportsman replied: 'You’ve got jokes, I see'.

Understandably, Bolt won the race while James finished in 20th place.
