He's formed a close bond with former judge Mel B.

And Simon Cowell has hinted he could be taking a hands-on role in the upcoming Spice Girls reunion to celebrate the band's 20th anniversary, lending his services to Scary Spice, Geri Horner (née Halliwell) and Emma Bunton.

The music mogul, 56, revealed during an interview on Lorraine on Friday morning that he would happily help audition for two new members since Mel C and Victoria Beckham have declined to take part.

Simon declared: 'I would like to be a part of it, 100 per cent. From what I hear there’s no chance of Victoria, Mel C fifty fifty maybe, so my suggestion is keep the three and then we’ll audition for two new members.'

The X Factor judge has enlisted the help of straight-talking Mel and her close pal Emma to help him whittle down his final contestants in the Girls category at Judges' Houses.

Speaking to Dan Wootton, he said: 'They were there to make my life easier and I said at the end, I said, "right, help me."

'Mel says those three, Emma says another three, I’m saying another three and it’s like - you’re not helping me in the slightest here.'

Call it a night in Emma's pyjama shirt by J.Crew

There's nothing we love more than a pair of posh pyjamas, so this season's trend for bringing nightwear out of the bedroom is right up our street!

Valentino, Givenchy, Erdem and Victoria Beckham have all championed the sleepy chic look recently, but check out these floral print PJs by J. Crew, as modelled by Emma Bunton.

They're from a collaboration between J.Crew and Drake's, the London-based company whose handmade silk pieces are second to none. We love the colours and striking Bengal tiger print on this trouser suit set. Click the link (right) to start shopping.

The whole shebang will set you back £396, but if you just want to dip a toe into the trend then we recommend investing in the shirt. You can style it with skinny jeans and heels on your next night out and it's the perfect alternative to a little black dress.

So with that in mind, find the pyjama shirt of your dreams in our edit below...

On his friendship with Mel B, he said: 'You know when you reach that point with someone where you don’t feel that you have to have a filter, you can say whatever you want, and yeah it’s like, it’s a fun love hate relationship.'

Simon also discussed his relationship with Lauren Silverman, with whom he raises two-year-old son Eric.

The TV star has a very stressful life thanks to his reality shows in both the UK and the US as well as his running his own record label, and says Lauren helps him get the work/life balance right.

He enthused: '[Lauren calls some of the shots] but for all the right reasons - if you're not careful you can almost burn yourself out - you've got to have that separation."

Simon also divulged how important it is for him to teach Eric manners.

He revealed: 'Right from the beginning I thought I'm going to teach Eric how to share, so I said 'Can I have some of your milk' and he went 'no' and I said 'You have to share everything Eric' and it took me about a week.'

And by spending time with his daddy on set, Eric is learning the ropes of television.'

Simon added: 'He does [know when to be quiet] but what's funny is he gets to see me watching the shows sometimes and when he likes something he's a really good barometer, so he's in training.'
