Kicking off the Tory Party conference in style! Theresa May teams a sober navy suit with scarlet, leopard print and DIAMANTE kitten heels in Birmingham

  • Prime Minister wore the snazzy footwear from one of her favourite shops
  • First wore the kitten heels at last year's Tory party conference
  • From Russell & Bromley, they're thought to cost over £200
  • Wore the bejewelled shoes to appear on The Andrew Marr Show

Hillary Clinton has her pant-suits, Angela Merkel opts for jewel-toned jackets and Theresa May can't resist snazzy footwear.

And today was no exception as the Prime Minister wore a pair of eye-catching Russell & Bromley kitten heels with her otherwise sober navy suit.

Mrs May, 60, donned the leopard print heels with distinctive red toe cap, a green heel and sparkling bejewelled embellishment, as she arrived at the BBC studios in Birmingham on the eve of the Conservative Party conference.

The OTT shoes also feature crocodile skin heels and tartan edging.

The Prime Minister who has admitted that shoes are her greatest extravagance, last wore the court shoes -  thought to retail for over £200 - at last year's Tory Party conference.

She teamed them with a red suit on that occasion but today, as she appeared on the Andrew Marr Show ahead of her first conference as Prime Minister, she opted for a navy skirt suit over a white blouse.

It's a relatively sombre look for the former party leader who has developed a following amongst fashionistas for her love of bold tailoring, statement necklaces and flamboyant footwear.

She even recently admitted that the two loves of her life are shoes and her husband in an interview with Windsor, Maidenhead and Ascot magazine.

Her accessories were kept to a minimum and included a pearl necklace, silver earrings and a gold chain bracelet.

The outfit made sure that her feet did all the talking.

It's also a sign that as PM, Ms May has no plans to let her style sense take a back seat.

At the 2015 conference she took to the stage in a striking navy £1,395 ‘Bitzer’ dress, from designer Roland Mouret’s pre-fall 2015 collection, featuring an unusual asymmetric neckline and a long gold zip running down the back.

The perennially chic politician offset her dress - a red version of which was worn by supermodel Tyra Banks this summer - with black block-heeled pumps and a red, beige and white handbag.

She arrived yesterday with husband Philip at Birmingham in a cropped boucle jacket with artfully frayed edges, a bold blue necklace, skinny jeans and black flats.
