'We have issues!' Bachelor In Paradise stars Jade Roper and Tanner Tolbert reveal why they joined Marriage Boot Camp two months after tying the knot

Jade and Tanner Tolbert were married only two months before encountering enough trouble to drive them onto Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars.

The former Miss Roper met her husband on Bachelor In Paradise during its second series last year. They threw their wedding this January and filmed it for ABC.

Jade explained that like all couples, they have their tough times, saying: 'We're normal people. We have issues just like everyone else.'

Tanner conceded that he 'was definitely nervous' about publicising their problems, 'because on the show we met on, it's all like roses and happiness, you know?'

He added: 'Everyone that is married or in a serious relationship, they have the good and the bad, and, you know, it's important to work on the bad to make it a better relationship going forward.'

Jade expressed some gladness that their appearance on Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars could puncture the 'facade that, like, everything's - like you said - like roses and happiness.'

She explained: 'There's a lot of pressure, that people are like: "Oh, we look to you for inspiration. You're our role models and stuff for, like, what love should be."'

Describing herself and her spouse as 'just normal,' she insisted: 'We hope people can still look and be like: "Oh, my gosh, they have problems just like we do, and that's inspirational as well."'

Offering a preview of the 'issues' discussed on the show, she reminisced that once, 'I had four cups around in the house, and he came home, and he was just livid.

'And he was like: "You're leaving cups everywhere!" I'm like: "They're...they're cups!"' These days, 'we're used to each other now, where he lets me get away with little things like that, and then I work on improvement.'

Before she had finished he interjecting, quipping: 'Now there's only two cups.'

He conceded:'I need to communicate nicer. I grew up, you know, in the sports world, and, you know, my family threw around cuss-words like it wasn't a big deal, and so they literally don't affect me, and I realised that they do affect her.'

Meanwhile, according to Jade, 'I, like, shut down at anger. Like, my family never fought in front of us, so anger, like, frightens me. And so he's kind of learned how to effectively communicate with me, and be able to reach me.'

Turning to him, she added: 'I've been able to effectively communicate, I think, better with you, so I can reach you - because,' she continued, turning back to their interviewer, 'he shuts down too on certain things.'

A clip People ran of the upcoming Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars series shone a bit more light on their relationship and its foibles.

'Tanner and I,' said Jade in a joint confessional with her man, 'both come from families of divorce, and we take marriage very seriously, so like, we're here to create a strong foundation.'

'And learn about what not to do down the road in marriage,' he added, nodding again to his 'bad temper.'

On September 22, the pair were the picture of chic when they posed together at Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars' swanky premiere party at the West Village nightclub Up&Down.

Before finding Tanner, Jade had competed for Chris Soules' hand on the 19th series of The Bachelor, and wound up being eliminated at the eighth week.

Tanner made it to the sixth week on the 11th season of The Bachelorette before Kaitlyn Bristowe sent him home.
