'We will never know why God called Noah home so soon': Parents of one-year-old boy who was shot dead while in a bedroom with his three-year-old brother release statement

A Georgia family has penned a heartfelt tribute after the death of their 18-month-old son while he was in a room with his three-year-old brother.

Little Noah, 18 months, was shot Saturday afternoon with a .45-caliber gun in McDonough, near Atlanta.

'Please pray for our family as we mourn the tragic loss of our son, Noah,' said a statement from dad Josh Gilmore and his family.

'Noah was a miracle baby from the start, defying all odds just to be born in the first place. He was a bundle of joy that lit up a room and made us all laugh and smile.'

FAMILY STATEMENT 

'Please pray for our family as we mourn the tragic loss of our son, Noah. Noah was a miracle baby from the start, defying all odds just to be born in the first place. He was a bundle of joy that lit up a room and made us all laugh and smile. He was on the run and climbing everything in sight from the time he woke up until he went to bed. We will never understand why God called Noah home so soon, but he will live on in our hearts and memories forever.'

While his three-year-old brother was in the room at the time, cops have now said he was not involved.  

The family said Noah 'was on the run and climbing everything in sight from the time he woke up until he went to bed.

'We will never understand why God called Noah home so soon, but he will live on in our hearts and memories forever,' the family said.

Authorities responded to a home on King Mill Road in McDonough, Georgia, near Atlanta on Saturday afternoon after reports of a shooting with a .45 caliber gun.

It  remains unclear if Noah's child's fatal wound was self-inflicted.

'There were adults in the room at the time, but the adults were not paying attention to what was going on,' Henry County Police Lieutenant Mike Ireland told WXIA.

'They did not actually see the incident occur. They heard a gunshot and then saw the child laying on the bed.'

Police have not said if any of the parents present will face charges.

The weapon is being investigated for fingerprints to try to determine who was holding it when it was shot, cops said., 

Noah was taken to Piedmont Hospital where he was pronounced dead around 5pm.

'The parents have suffered the most terrible loss anyone can endure, and are in need of financial assistance to help with funeral arrangements, potential time off work and care for Noah's 2 young siblings,' wrote family friend Joseph Spain, who set up the page. 

'Noah was such a happy baby - always smiling, and his parents are totally devastated. They're trying to figure out how to go on,' Spain told the Independent Journal Review.
