Sam first soared to fame on The Only Way Is Essex in its 2010 inauguration, where she threw herself wholeheartedly into the dramatic storylines and glamorous party ethos of the show.

After six years in the limelight, the blonde beauty's lifestyle has taken a total U-turn since she left the show in 2014 after 11 seasons - bringing her to the present as she is happily settled with baby Paul Tony and her partner Paul.

Having first given an insight into their happy lives together in the Baby Diaries, which followed Sam's pregnancy and childbirth, the show was met with mixed reviews as Paul was painted as 'controlling' and 'a man child'.

Yet defiant Sam is returning to screens once again in The Mummy Diaries. Ahead of the release she spoke to MailOnline about the scandal surrounding Paul which she blames herself for entirely atop her quiet life since the arrival of their tot.

She candidly revealed: 'I've not had a night off since I had the baby. Not had date night or anything. That's my own choice. I've enjoyed every second of being a mum because I think this time is so precious. People comment and say you need a night out and I say I'm not ready. It will happen but it's one of those things, isn't it?'

After years of hitting the party scene and being a regular on the red carpet and the hottest night clubs, Sam is insistent she is hanging up her party shoes for now.

With a firm stance, she explained: 'All mums are different and everyone has different ways of parenting. I had a dinner with the girls but I was home by 11. I haven't had a night or a proper night out. I've had a few glasses of Prosecco or wine with dinner but the baby's with me all the time so I can't have more than two.

Taken a step back: Since meeting Paul, she insists she has moved away from her old life: 'Paul is so supportive and since meeting him I've taken a step back from the usual. I don't do the party scene anymore and I just do what's nice

'I've not missed it. I do look forward to a date night with Paul now that the baby's eating and having snacks. He doesn't rely on me so much for the milk, so me and Paul can start thinking about date night as well.

'Up until then we haven't been bothered. We've enjoyed every moment with him and we don't want to be without him. I'm just happy doing it, I wouldn't call it anything. I just love being with him all the time.'

'We've been focusing so much on the show and we've been doing that every day this has been the main focus. We've been filming what I've been doing for the last 10 months.'

Aside from their enthusiasm towards enjoying a date night it would be easy to understand if Paul was lacking enthusiasm towards the documentary due to the backlash he faced.

After the initial show aired in February, the Essex-born beauty was forced to jump to her boyfriend's defense after a host of incidents saw fans lash out at his behaviour - deeming him a 'controlling man boy'.

While he repeatedly asked Sam to cook for him, including while she was breastfeeding, he also fell asleep during pre-natal lessons although one moment in particular captured the attention of viewers.

Delighted: Of the show, Sam clearly cannot contain her excitement, she said: ' We're really excited. A couple of weeks now, so getting a bit nervous. He is Paul's image but when he smiles I think he looks like me. It's Big Paul little Paul'

Paul and Gaynor were seen having a deep chat while sitting on a sofa, after which the pair locked lips in what many deemed an over-expressive display of mother-son affection.

Yet Sam insists the whole family laughed off the controversy, although she personally blamed herself for Paul's negative reception after insisting she 'threw him in the deep end' with the documentary.

She said: 'Paul's so excited. He's throughout the whole series and he's much more relaxed and used to it. He comes into his own which is great. I still take the blame for (the reaction). He'd never done TV, it's not his world. He couldn't relax or be himself. He's much more chilled out.

'I threw him in the deep end and I didn't anticipate that it would blow up... I didn't think it would be as big as it was and he is so laid-back, he doesn't let things like that bother him.

'He doesn't have social media, he doesn't look online, all he watches is SkySports. It doesn't bother him so he asks why i let it bother me. I was a lot more offended than he was.

'It didn't hurt our relationship. In episode one we sit and chat and discuss the baby diaries. It's good. It's all in there and it shows Paul doesn't care about it. He's really cool about it and I was being really protective I suppose.'

After Gaynor and Paul's relationship was hurled into the spotlight for all the wrong reasons, Sam is adamant her one-day mother-in-law was cool with everything: 'Gaynor and Paul laughed it off. It got blown out of proportion and we found it funny and laughed it off and no one was offended my side.

'It's that one person said it then another and it creates a story and everyone's talking. I couldn't believe how out of control it got. Like they started talking about it on Loose Women.'

'It's really good because I've watched a couple of the episodes and obviously I know what we've filmed literally it's so raw and it catches every moment and milestone. Captures every moment. All my family are in it, all my friends with babies. I've got like three or four holidays on it. It's good fun.'

Sam Faiers: The Mummy Diaries starts Wednesday 12th October at 9pm on ITVBe.
