'Nobody in any squad has a normal body': Demi Lovato slams Taylor Swift for 'tearing down' Katy Perry and slams her friends' figures for giving young fans a 'false image'

Demi Lovato has slammed Taylor Swift and her squad for 'tearing down' Katy Perry.

The Confident hitmaker has hit out at the pop princess and her friends - including the likes of Cara Delevingne, Ellie Goulding, Gigi Hadid and Karlie Kloss - for using her 2014 song Bad Blood to reference her feud with Katy, 31.

Demi, 24, said she thinks Taylor, 26, failed to empower other women by teaming up with her pals against the Roar singer.

Talking about the Bad Blood video, Demi said: 'I think that having a song and a video about tearing Katy Perry down, that's not women's empowerment.'

The brunette also criticised the video for only using women with perfect bodies, which she says gives young fans the wrong impression of what they should look like.

In an interview with Glamour, Demi added: 'This will probably get me in trouble, but I don't see anybody in any sort of squad that has a normal body. It's kind of this false image of what people should look like.'

The Confident hitmaker has since admitted that while her words can be "taken out of context", she stands by her views.

She tweeted: 'I get asked questions. I answer them. Sue me. Also don't forget that words can be taken out of context when doing interviews.. still not apologizing for saying what everyone want to say.

'I don't understand why people care so much about what I say in interviews? Do y'all watch the news? Don't y'all got s**t to worry about? (sic).'

Katy - who has long been rumoured to have an ongoing feud with Taylor - recently showed signs that she is ready to make up with the pop star by offering to collaborate with her if she apologizes.

The Dark Horse hitmaker seemed happy to end her ongoing feud with Taylor and held out an olive branch by announcing that there is a chance they could work together in the future.

When asked in a Twitter Q&A if she would work with Taylor, Katy replied: 'If she says sorry, sure!'

The two singers have had an ongoing feud ever since Taylor claimed the Unconditionally singer stole three of her backing dancers from her RED tour in 2012.

Demi first began her dispute with Taylor in February this year.

In a thinly-veiled string of tweets, Demi seemed to accuse Taylor of being a fake feminist, lashing out at her for donating $250,000 to Kesha's legal defense after she alleged she was sexually assaulted by producer Dr. Luke - instead of doing something that Demi would characterize as more substantial.

Just minutes after news broke of Swift's donation, Demi appeared to post a tweet aimed at the Shake It Off star, slamming her for remaining silent on the issue.

'Take something to Capitol Hill or actually speak out about something and then I'll be impressed,' she wrote.

But when a Taylor Swift Instagram fan account @proudofswift accused Lovato of taking attention from the real issue to bring the spotlight onto a 'new rivalry' between herself and Taylor, Demi lost it.

'How the f**k am I making this about myself? At least I'm talking about it,' she posted, getting embroiled in an argument with the fan moderator, inadvertently confirming in her rage her 'unimpressed' tweet was indeed referring to Taylor's silent donation.

'Not everyone has 250k to just give to people. Would love to but I didn't grow up with money and def haven't made as much as her. At least I speak up about s*** that's uncomfortable to talk about rather than trying to be politically correct 24/7.

'There's no "rivalry" I just give more f**ks than other people and would rather start a dialogue ABOUT WOMEN COMING FORWARD ABOUT BEING RAPED than throw money at one person,' she continued.

The fan account calmly pointed out that Kesha's own mother had tweeted her appreciation of Swift's donation, insisting that 'throwing shade' at the Blank Space hitmaker 'just isn't right.

'Didn't shade Taylor. If you take it that way than fine,' Lovato responded. 'I'm just tired of seeing women use "women empowerment" and "feminism" to further brands without actually being the ones that have the uncomfortable conversations.

'I get shade and I don't give a f**k because someone has to be the one to take it. At least I'm getting my hands dirty.'

The night before, Lovato was among the dozens of artists who 'dirtied her hands' by posting their support for Kesha, although none were as impassioned as her epic ten tweet rant.

While praising Kesha for her bravery, she repeatedly defined 'women empowerment' as 'speaking up for other women even when it's something uncomfortable to speak up about'; 'using your voice to help the voiceless women be heard'; and 'taking action now, not when it's convenient.'

She also fired what some are now calling a pre-emptive attack on Taylor: 'I'm also ready for self-proclaimed feminists to start speaking out or taking action for women's rights.'

In February, a judge in New York declared that Kesha, 28, must honor her contract with Sony even though she has claimed that producer Dr. Luke had drugged and sexually assaulted her.

Kesha had been left in tears after her legal case against Sony and Dr. Luke failed to get her released from a contract to make more records for the label.

The artist has said she's fighting to wrestle her career away from hitmaker Dr. Luke - full name Lukasz Gottwald - alleging he had drugged, sexually abused and psychologically tormented her.

The producer says Kesha made up that story in an attempt to ruin his reputation to try to weasel out of her recording contract.
