'I've got a cool missus': British singer Robbie Williams has gushed about his American wife Ayda Field and how 'understanding' she is of his former lothario ways (seen together last year)

The comment came after he was asked about how she feels about the models in his new video clip for Party Like A Russian, having an ice cream fight.

He added: 'She's already talked about this at some point, but whenever the television is on, there's normally somebody that I've slept with and we'll be in bed and I don't just have to say 'I've slept with her anymore,' he said, saying he points and she knows what he means.

'That thought of whatever happens before Ayda doesn't exist and she knows it's showbiz and that's the excuse I'm sticking too,' he said.

'It was a joke': Robbie also denied this week sleeping with four out of the five Spice Girls, with the women being seen here in 1995

He also spoke that same day to Nova's Fitzy and Wippa, denying he's slept with 'four out of five' Spice Girls.

Robbie, who was previously reported to be in a relationship with Spice Girls' Geri Halliwell, said it was all a 'joke.'

'I told a joke a long time ago. And it sort of got out of hand. You know 'Back fro good' the Take That song, I used to sing that on stage,' Robbie said.

'I still do. On one particular tour before it I introduced it by saying ' I am very fortunate to have been in Take That and 4 out 5 of the Spice Girls.' That was my intro to the song and it was a joke and the joke went too far.'

He added he'd like to apologise to the former girl group and their partners.

'I would like to apologise to all the Spice Girls involved and their husbands and boyfriends. I know a few husbands and boyfriends weren't too happy with the joke.'

Last month, he also insisted the line was all a joke when speaking to Kyle And Jackie O

'That was my joke. That was just a joke - and it got me into a lot of trouble. And that joke carried on and has followed me through my career since I've said it.'

'And now my wife has taken that joke and ran with it herself. When we all know it was five our five and not four out of five!' he quipped.

Ayda recently made headlines after claiming on the UK's Loose Women that her husband had slept with most of the Spice Girls.

Back in July, TV host Kaye Adams began by asking: 'Ayda, did Robbie 'know' the Spice Girls?'

The outspoken 37-year-old replied, 'Yes he did,' before admitting he 'knew' Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton and Melanie C.

The audience laughed as she joked there 'is not enough paper or pens' to write down all the Spice Girls that he 'knew.'
