The Great British Take Off! Paul Hollywood takes to the skies in vintage World War II Spitfire... after confirming move to Channel 4

He’s better known for his culinary skills, but celebrity baker Paul Hollywood revealed a hitherto unknown talent during an appearance in Kent on Wednesday afternoon.

The Great British Bake Off host, 50, was given the rare opportunity to fly a vintage aircraft after paying a visit to Aero Legends on the southern English county’s Headcorn Airfield.

The organisation gives air enthusiasts the chance to fly in planes used by the RAF during World War II, amongst them the Tiger Moth, Spitfire and Harvard.

And dressed in a green jumpsuit, Hollywood certainly looked the part as he posed for photos shortly before taking to the skies alongside a trained pilot.

Captioning the shot, he wrote: 'Awesome day today thank you @AeroLegendsUK.'

The bearded presenter was later seen sporting a flight helmet and shades while preparing to take off for a flight across rural Kent and neighboring Dover.

A short video taken from the ground and shared on social media captured Hollywood's aircraft as it passed over the rolling countryside.

'Did anyone see this flying past White cliffs, Deal, Sandwich, Wingham and Canterbury today...!' Hollywood wrote alongside the short clip.

Elsewhere the presenter recently confirmed he will star with The Great British Bake Off following its controversial move from the BBC to Channel 4.

Announcing his decision in a statement, he said: 'The Great British Bake Off has brought baking to the nation and we've seen people from all walks of life and backgrounds experience the highs and lows of competition, and more importantly helping each other.

'It's been a huge part of my life in the past few years and I just couldn't turn my back on all that - the bakers themselves, the bakes, the team that makes it, and of course the tent, the bunting, and who could forget ... the squirrels.

'So I am delighted that I will be continuing as a judge when Bake Off moves to Channel 4.'
